The Synagogue dates 1826 and is still standing on the same spot. You can see the inside only by taking a tour that takes place once a day during the weekdays.

Amazing synagogue to walk into with a very interesting history. If you can provide your passport information prior to Friday night services, you will be pleasantly surprised. The Friday night services with the choir are amazing!

Looks alike a miniature opera. Extremely well styled and pleasant. Recommended as part of architectural visit.

Armed only with a a street map, my husband and I found it somewhat difficult to find the synagogue. The fact that there were police officers at the top of the little street gave us a clue we were in the right spot. There was...More

We attended the tour. I come from Jewish heritage but am not observant. Thought this would be a good way to learn more about my family history. Story of Jews in Austria and Vienna is long and illustrious. Building is beautiful. Unfortunately we were very...More

Went on Friday and could not get in. Writing this to warn others to check the web site- it has proper hours- my fault for not checking and listening to people who obviously didn't know. (The Jewish Museum is nearby.)

Thrilled to have been able to attend Friday night service. A most memorable experience. Wonderful cantor and choir. Be aware that ID is required in order to enter.

Considering what happened here less than a hundred years ago, it is a miracle that this amazing building has survived and, moreover, that there is a thriving Jewish community who meet for regular services. The building is exquisite. Uniquely circular, with a glorious, domed ceiling....More

Stadttempel Synagogue is situated in a quiet corner of Vienna downtown just next to the busy streets. Grand building restored after unfamous Kristalnacht is a heart of the Jewish community. Unforgettable atmosphere, nice cantor singing, I was there for the first time on Shabbat but...More
