For centuries the Vienna Hofburg was the centre of the Habsburg empire. Today the palace houses three museums which afford historically authentic insights into the traditions and everyday life of the imperial court: The Imperial Apartments with their original furnishings and decoration, the Sisi Museum with its sensitive staging of the empress' life, and the Imperial Silver Collection which contains a comprehensive range of tableware and other utensils used at the imperial court.

Imperial palace of Habsburg dynasty and their official winter residence, turned into museum is one of must see places when visiting Austrian capital. Plenty items to see inside, very nice interior design and first hand peek into everyday life of royals.

Really enjoyed this visit - there's a lot to see. The "kitchen" collection is massive - imagine polishing all that silver. The building is amazing.

The museum gives a very good insight and 'feel' for the lifestyle of the imperial family and aristocracy in the 19th century.

3 museums in 1 - silver, Sisi & imperial apartments. I thought the silver museum was really boring but was easy to skip through. Sisi with the audio guide was fascinating and a real insight to life in the Royal Family at that time. The...More

Another great palace castle in Austria, a nice visit spot and walking around area.

We didn't, but you risk waiting in a big line. They do move fairly fast though.
