The natural history museaum offers a look at nature collections that have been put together over a really long time, and would probably not be found in newer museums. The exhibits are amazing, but some of them (the mineral and gem collection, for example) completely lack English translations. Definitely worth a visit, even if you won't be able to know... More

I spent a happy 3 hours in this place prior to catching my plane home. My friends are not museum people and so had gone shopping, but I think they were a little surprised when I reported back on this museum. Firstly when you enter the interior of the building is just stunning - as you go up the huge... More

A fun day out - the museum offered more and different experiences to the natural history museums I have visited previously. I particularly appreciated that much of the signage was in both English and German. However, there weren't many interactive exhibits which was a shame.

I was truly taken aback by the scale of the place if not the architecture and preservation of its exhibits. Spent two hours in here and it wasn't enough everything was so interesting, beautiful and brilliant!

This must be one of the best Natural History museums. You could spend a whole day visiting the various parts of this ultra-impressive attraction. There is so much to do and see from Science & Astronomy to the massive variety of every species imaginable. You cannot visit Vienna without visiting this museum.

Found this museum really interesting could have spent a lot longer but we were pushed for time. We did book a guided roof top tour for 8 euros which gave us fantastic views over the city.

Magnificent building on a grand scale with superb extensive range of exhibits. Needs a lot of time to do it justice but a must see on your visit. (Don't necessarily plan on using cafe, it is relatively small and very busy).

The museum is set in a great location, and in a really beautiful building - you could spend the day just admiring the architecture and art work! The museum really does have a wide range of exhibits including meteorites, dinosaur bones and a massive collection of animals. Not to mention some interactive parts too. I also found it really interesting... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
