A beautiful experience, because everything is possible and for every budget. There are stores with high quality and High end fashion and you have stores where you can shop with a smaller budget. The architecture makes the scenery exciting. It's definitely a city that you need to visit!

The christmas market outside the Altstadt was one of my favorites. Excellent food and drinks, shops and stalls, and there was live music almost every day on the steps. Outside you can hear the glockenspiel play at 11:00 and 18:00 daily.

We visited Salzburg in time of advent, so there were very nice Christmas markets. The downtown of Salzburg is quite small, surrounded by hills from which you can enjoy very beautiful view on the whole city.

It is the most beautiful old town area. I will save it is probably better than this in the former Eastern European countries like the Czech Republic but overall it is a must to see with nice coffee shops restaurants and just wonderful architecture

Salzburg downtown is very small (an couple of streets). The main street has many shops and some in my opinion should not be there (typical shop of big chain like in shopping center). But from main street you can visit museum, go to the old castle, walk on river side, so for 1 day is nice. The second day will... More

We had a great luck with the weather. Snow everywhere was magical and the warmth of sun kept us walking around. No need for buses around here, everything is walking distance. And you can soak up the atmosphere better on a foot.

We stayed in Salzburg's Altstadt for 3 nights and loved the atmosphere, all the historic sites are within walking distance & even in icy conditions being a tourist here was easy and enjoyable. The history of this once sovereign state is fascinating don't miss the Dom Residence & cathedral itself, Mozart's birth place & a concert performed daily in a... More
