This pleasant riverside walk takes you through the gorge via walking track, stairs, bridges and tunnel to view the crystal clear fast flowing water in the gorge. A lovely peaceful place with few tourists. Easy to get to by bus from Salzburg if you don't have a car. A small entry fee lets you wander up the gorge for as... More

We parked at the top car park near the kiosk and paid the cheap entrance fee (€4 with our tennengau card). The walk to the dark gorge only takes about 5 minutes and I imagine it is much better if you go in the evening. Turning round we walked back past the kiosk and to the gasthaus at the end.... More

This is an interesting walk which shows of a different part of the Alpine scenery that you don't often see from the roads. We joined at one of the main car parks (free parking) and walked down to the kiosk via the toilets. As ever facilities here were in good order with clean toilets. At the kiosk is a small... More

If you like nature and hiking you shouldn't miss it if you visit Salzburg. Even if you have only an hour free time it's worth to visit this. It's very cheap.

We decided to see this gorge on a late afternoon and glad we did the stop. It only took us 1hr to do the entire walk up and back an it was a nice easy hike. I don't think this this is a must see, but rather a nice to do when you have a few hours to spare.

We hiked this gorge on a day trip out of Salzburg. Easy to find the parking lot as it is well-marked. Restrooms near parking lot too. Stop at the kiosk and pay the fee, just €8. Hike down the right hand trail first. This is the shorter section and leads to the start of the gorge, the narrowest part. There... More

Chanced upon this gorge on a drive from Germany to Austria, and took the opportunity to stretch our legs and have a little hike. It's not the most gorgeous gorge, but it is well-maintained and rather nice for short hike (about an hour or less). Try not to do it when it's scorching hot though.
