A great short hike with great views

I took my school trip on this short hike on the day we arrived. Yes, we had jet lag but why not take in some beautiful views of the city?

The burg is a great walk to stretch your legs if you need to get out of the city. It's steep, but the views over the city and the austrian alps are stunning, and best of all, there's a restaurant at the top!

I started my walk from Kapuzineberg with Nomadi app and had a nice guided walk down to St. Andrä church.

You have a choice of a few routes that you could choose among based on how strenuous you want the hike to be. You'll get great views of the city from the top. They do have a place where you can get some refreshments once you get to the top. You may encounter some panhandlers on your way though (especially... More

I stayed at an Airbnb (#3) at the bottom of the hill. This place is picturesque! It is worth hiking (even alone, no danger during daytime), up into the forest until the Franziskischlössl. You'll pass by oratories which one consisted of a beautiful representation of crucified Christ flanked by the two Thiefs, the Holy Mother and Saint John. You'll also... More

Kapuzinerberg is a hill 640 meters above sea level on the eastern bank of Salzach river in Salzburg. A memorial place for Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It is home to a Capucines cloister built on the site of a medieval fortress, the "Trompeterschlössl". Earliest human settlements on the eastern slope of Kapuzinerberg date back to neolithic period. Big prehistoric settlements on... More

We had a fantastic time hiking in Kapuzinerberg. The initial 5 minutes fee quite steep but later you do find a paved road. The entire view of the city can be seen from here and is extremely beautiful. You get a view of Salzburg and the Alps which is indeed breathtaking.

Great easy hike, different paths to follow, excellent views of Salzburg and the Alps. Maybe the first 5 minutes are a bit steep but the road is paved and there are steps as well so it's easy. The rest of the route is very easy-I haven't worked out for a year and had no problem walking up and down Kapuzinerberg.

This is a great place to either just walk up the road to enjoy the sights or to hike in the woods. The views of the city are fabulous during the day and at night.
