My family group of 7 visited the fortress during a day trip to Salzburg - so glad we did. The funicular ride had been recommended as fun for our son, but it was a treat for everyone in the group (aged 10-80) - great way...More

We were lucky enough to have a beautiful summer day and so saw everything at its best. We set out exhibits, amazing panorama places, beautiful places to sit and enjoy coffee drinks or meals!

This is a must do when visiting Salzburg! This involves some walking (steps up and down), so the funicular trip before and after is well appreciated! The audioguide is available in many languages and interesting (but short). There are well made interactive panels in the...More

You can't visit Salzburg and not visit the fortress. I recommend taking the audio tour. It's short and takes you up to a tower not otherwise accessible. It has stunning views of Salzburg!

I was there in June and there was not any need. There will be more people in July but I'd say no.

I believe including in Salzburg card . I was there in fall so funicular up to the fortress was open , I walked to the base from our hotel 20 min walk . Walk up is hard . Down is fast , easy and pretty !
