Take the panorama funicular railway up the mountain at Hallstatt to discover the mysterious attraction of this mystical area. The path leads to the tunnel mouth and into a unique underground world first dug by hand more than 3000 years ago: many kilometres of tunnels lead deep into the rock interior. Enjoy a day full of fun and information at the Salt Mine Hallstatt for the hole family.

7000 year old salt mine and still operational! You cannot miss this. The train ride itself is intriguing and then the salt mine comes. Our guide, Lucas was awesome and made the experience even better!

There was a lot of people waiting to get in but the entire setup was very well organized. We only waited 25 min until we got shown downstairs where we got a shirt and pair of trousers to put over our own clothes to protect...More

An amazing experience at the salt mine. Amazing slides and very educational tour. But I think there was too many people for 1 tour.

Visited the Salt Mines with my grandson and we both enjoyed it, although the walk from the venicular to the mine is quite a climb!

Enjoyed our trip to the salt mines - struck a good balance between an interesting underground tour, a few educational presentations, some fun slides (I got 29.7 km/h) and a very cool underground light show. The train ride out was not for the feint-of-heart (or...More

It was soooooo nice. The whole thing was just an amazing experience. If you're around Hallstatt, just go there. Slides, little movies projected on interesting surfaces and a mineshaft-ish train. There are a few places to eat and drink after a journey up the mountain....More

Took a tour here. Nice and cool inside - we went on a hot day. Walk about 300 meters in a tunnel. Learned a lot about the salt mining. Must wear closed toe shoes. You have to put on pants and top over your clothes...More

It is a must see! We were thinking about just going for the skywalk and skip the salt mine .. but my youngest wanted to see the salt mine. It was an excellent visit- very educational and interactive with such a fun guide! Highly recommended!

This was a waste of time and 30 Euros....once you start the tour, there's no escape as you're trapped 300m underground and have to listen to endless stories about salt of which zero fox I give. Totally hyped up tourist trap, only go there if...More

No, you don't. You buy the ticket at the foot of the skywalk lift if you choose to or when you come up in the entrance of the salt mine. The tour goes every 1 hour mby 1 hour and a half, and they take 65 people. Our group... More

You can walk up to the salt mine. However it is a steep walk. The entrance fee includes also the cable car ride.

Hi, No you have to take the tram or hike up which is very steep and would take a good amount of time. I would spend the extra money and take the tram well worth it. I don't check often sorry for the late response.
