We took this cruise from Dürnstein to Melk and back; highly recommend for a nice 4-hour excursion with beautiful scenery, attentive staff, and plentiful food and drink aboard (clean WCs also on board). Prices for refreshments were reasonable and the food tasty. Round trip tickets were 31.50 € each person and could be purchased on the dock; the ticket person arrived about 10 minutes before the morning cruise departed. The boat stopped at a few different towns in both directions. The top outdoor deck had areas of sun and shade; tables and benches. For COVID-19: Spacing between tables was adequate and servers wore masks on board. Other passengers were inconsistent in their mask wearing; luckily the interior of the ship seemed well ventilated.

We took the Brandner cruise from Krems to WeiBenkirchen as part of our tour group excursions. We were served cake and coffee and it was very good. The views of the villages and landscape along the Danube are absolutely beautiful. We had a nice, warm sunny day that made our experience that much better. The inside had plenty of comfortable tables to sit and enjoy whatever it is your eating and drinking along with a beautiful lounge. The boat has a nice layout and lots of room. There's also plenty of seating out on the deck for viewing the landscape and the beautiful views along the river. If you're in the Vienna area and the weather is good, I would highly recommend this cruise. You'll love it!

lack of information with regard to the boat trip between the two is shocking. From November through winter the trip is not worth doing and the boats infrequent. However OBB does offer a reduced fare to encourage people to go to Melk which has a beautiful monastery, nice village and good restaurants, so worth the trip for a return trip to Melk.

The cruise is a definite must do. The views are incredible and the food and beverages are surprisingly good. The apricot cake is heavenly! We took the cruise one way to Krems and then took a taxi to Durnstein, which is a great little town. However, two in our party missed the cruise because they had to move the pick up location due to low river flows. Although this is understandable, it is was very poorly communicated, just a handwritten small sign on a board. The woman at the ticket booth, which was also a little confusing to find, was not very helpful, although a younger woman there was helpful. So I would recommend that you give yourself time to find the ticket booth, confirm the departure time, and get on a shuttle, in case things change, particularly if you don’t speak German. Also, each cruise line only offers 1 cruise a day at about 1:45 pm and not 3 a day as advertised, at least when we were there.
