Hardly changed since the 1890s. Still elegant and possibly the quietest casino in the world. This is hallowed ground and that is reflected by the respect shown by staff and visitors alike.
Tip: You don't have to break the bank to stay in MC. You can stay in Nice and visit for the day. And maybe the next day too. Bring some decent clothes and go in the evening. Have dinner at Le Salon Rose or Le Train Bleu.

I have been to many casinos all over the world. I expected this one to be of higher class...it wasn't. The punters were mainly tourists, some adhered to the dress code and some did not. The big players play in a private room so you do not get to see anything different to the local casino in your own hometown.
I love Monaco, but I would not visit this casino again.

The Monte-Carlos Casino is one of the most beautiful buildings I have seen, very spectacular and grand on the outside and in. It's worth a visit, even if you are not planning on gambling.

We were in the area admiring all the super cars and were excited to be able to enter and look at the luxurious decor. Bag checks on the door which were swift, we spent about ten minutes admiring the beautiful way it was maintained . It’s definitely worth checking out .

My wife and I stopped here on a Thursday night primarily to see the place. Entry was a little confusing. We had joined the local Monte Carlo Club because it supposedly got you free entry. The ticket desk agreed but the people who take the tickets didn’t. After much debate we were allowed in because we were members of the club and were staying in a nearby hotel. We also needed our passport.
The casino primarily consist of 3 or 4 large rooms that are beautiful. There are also a couple of side rooms for restaurants and private groups. Photos are not permitted.
We dressed up but didn’t need too. Aside from prohibiting tennis shoes and shorts there’s not much of a dress code. We were definitely overdressed. The place was pretty dead as the employees seemed to outnumber the gamblers. Most of the gamblers played machines.
Not a very exciting place but worth a visit to see the beautiful rooms.

Decided to go in this time whilst visiting Monaco.
Whilst the information on the internet and sign out the front indicated a requirement for a passport OR national ID - national ID only applies to an “EU” ID when I went to get a ticket.
It would be helpful to make this clearer and one could bring a passport instead.

Very spectacular casino, which was very interesting to visit. I played a bit of blackjack, which was quite enjoyable, the minimum stake is €25. At the nearby café de Paris Casino. I understand the minimum stake is €10, but this is a very dull place compared with the casino of Monte Carlo.
I got free membership which allowed you and 2 guests to enter without paying a fee. You can apply online and then get your physical card at the café Paris casino guest services area. This allows entry to the casino of Monte Carlo.

Glamour still here. First visit was about 20yrs ago. It was better this time / not too busy as compared to a August visit. Public casino area very small now but you can buy tickets to access main floor

You do not need to gamble or buy a ticket to go inside the casino. Free of charge you can go inside at least to the entrance hall to see how magnificent this building is.

Do you have to pay to just look round the casino in the morning ? Its not clear if you still have to get a Membership which then entitles you to get free entry ? I realise you cant gamble , just want to have a look round inside . Thank you.

Hi, we went in and and had a free look round, you can’t get far as the areas are roped off , but it was enough to see the beautiful opulent decor . Quick bag check on the way in was all that was required. It’s impressive and worth ten minutes if you are nearby

We visited the Monte Carlo casino. I can't compare to the casino in the cafe de Paris since I know nothing about it.
We were disappointed by our visit to the Monte Carlo casino. Some nice architecture and design, but otherwise not of special interest to us. Monaco was absolutely beautiful. I think you'll find a more detailed review I posted to TripAdvisor after our trip in Sept.

Hi,
I played roulette and it was the standard minimums. I did not notice any excessive minimums at the other tables. I played with 100 Euros for a bit of time and had fun.
It was not any more expensive then Las Vegas.
It was more of an experience!
I also enjoyed the moderately priced restaurant Le Salon Rose - no reservations (I would make one, if during high season)- very good service - 3.5 to 4 flavors - beautiful interior and very nice view of the mediterranean.

The interior of the Casino de Monte Carlo is much classier than that of the casinos off Fremont Street (there is a YouTube video which gives you a sense of the place's glamour, although it was jarring to see, in real life, how many slot machines actually line the walls. The video also does not give you the sense of how crowded it can be during the day, with masses of tourists wandering the streets and pathways.
