The market was being refurbished ahead of Paphos being City of Culture. A shame the bus driver did not bother to mention this to us and the rest of the tourists on the bus! To be fair though, there is a great panoramic view of Paphos and the sea from the top of the hill. Maybe it's worth a visit... More

The area in the old town was recommended to us by our hotelier plenty of shops and eating and drinking places unfortunately for us it was a waste of time so many road works whole streets dug up in the name of progress.

With all the extensive roadworks going on thd market and old town has become a complete eyesore. The same old tat and counterfeit goods are still a plenty pushed to you by the over zealous shop assistants. Walking from the car park has also become dangerous with traffic currently two way and no usable safeway to cross.

The market is closed, as another reviewer has already posted. The Old Town has been decimated by roadworks. The locals are upset by this and many businesses have closed whilst the works are carried out. There are still shops, cafes and restaurants open, so visit if you can.

We visited on Saturday September 3 to discover the market trading for its last day until January. Big refurbishment in the area for City of Culture status in 2017. Lots of little shops behind it are open despite roadworks which are still worth a visit. The view from up there is well worth a trip. There's a lovely restaurant overlooking... More

We went there on a very warm day. Nice market with handmade things and other things, food, oils, spices , clothes... Good prices. Unfortunately many clinging sellers.

So we visited on a Bank Holiday so practically everything was shut. However, we are not devoid of imagination and I'm afraid that apart from the Haman and a few cute little gift shops, Old Paphos is currently just one big set of roadworks and little charm. Views back out to sea were good though. And maybe it'll be worth... More

I love going to markets in Europe and was waiting for this trip with anticipation but was sorely disappointed. I was hoping for more traditional, interesting items, of which there were some but buried between endless shops of tourist tat. I did manage to find a hand made leather sandal shop and made a great purchase and a couple of... More

It was nearing the end of the holiday season and several of the stalls in the market area were closed or having 'clearance' sales. Lots had the same products, oil, lace, cypriot delight, bags and nuts so you had to try and haggle a bit for the best price.
