COOL castle

Great view of the valley with a really feel of ancient Europe. The climb up to castle might be tough for old folfs

Vianden sits at the top of a hill, and is reached by walking through the town. There's no parking at the castle itself, but there are a few small car parks in the town itself. Follow the road up and around and you'll come to the ticket gates, through the castle wall. When we visited it was €7 for adults... More

We went midweek in the off season (October), so the castle itself was fairly quiet but even so, the parking in the town was pretty full. I would suggest using public transport to get to Vianden. It's fairly cheap to get around and free if you buy a Luxembourg Card. The castle is at the top of a fair sized... More

My husband and I visited on Monday, Jan 2, arriving via Lux city on public transport using the Luxembourg card. Entry to the attraction is also included in the card. I highly recommend getting the supercheap audioguide - only 2EUROS- in particular for English speakers like myself as the captions around the castle are only in French and German. Two... More

This castle is one of the most beautiful attractions in Luxemburg. It is historical and unspoiled, and the view from the top down to the town is breathtaking. Beautiful landscape is like from a fairy tale. In order to get up to the hill one needs to climb relatively lot of stairs, but the view is worth it!

It is remarkable how well this castle has been developed into a museum that you can see how people lived back then. DO NOt miss.

A magnificent castle situated atop a hill in a picturesque small town (in which everything else was closed when we visited). The castle was partly rebuilt, but the most interesting parts - the majority of the interiors - are original. The tour of the whole castle took us about an hour. This was, by far, the best place we have... More

This appears twice. It is about the only real attraction here other than food and a nice little town. Plan about 2 hours. Parts are heated and parts are outside. This castle is a restored ruin so it is not as involved as some.

The Chateaux is very well kept and unspoiled, preserving the history of the place, the views from the top of Vianden are amazing, and at 6 euros entrance fee well worth it.

Really enjoyed this castle. It's a self guided tour, with a well done tour that you listen to through head phones. I did not do the chair lift to the castle; my friend did and enjoyed the views. Well worth a day trip. As a photographer, it was particularly nice to have great vistas as well as the details of... More
