When we visited Malta in Feb-March 2017, St James' Cavalier Centre seemed to be the only place where we could see contemporary art. The building is actually rather hidden in the city walls - plus we didn't see any posters anywhere, so if we hadn't had local advice it would have been impossible to find it. The building itself is... More

We went here with the expectation of enjoying the art... what a shame that the building outshines the exhibits! If this is a centre for creativity then the future is bleak. The art work on display was on the theme of "We lost the war". It looked as if it was done by a low grade GCSE student which is... More

Hidden in the will of Valletta, the centre is a group of rooms to explore , showing exhibitions and providing creative space for its people. We went to the cinema there , where they show a wide variety of films that likely don't get large theatrical release. There is an annual children's theatre festival. Looking at the program for it,... My partner and I attended the MET HD LIVE Don Giovanni at St.James Cavalier yesterday evening. While their website clearly states that the opera is being transmitted in Italian with English subtitles, astonishingly the subtitles were in German which meant that the opera was incomprehensible to most of the audience. This, coupled with the freezing temperatures in the auditorium due... More

Local experts told us about this place. What a gem it is. It was housing a photographic exhibition and the venue added to the overall experience. Free entry and nicely air conditioned it was a lovely visit. The Inspirations cafe is worth a visit for sure.

The website didn't really give much information, but we were passing so we wandered in, up a covered staircase and into the galleries. What a surprise - this is a lovely old building sympathetically restored, with a real contemporary feel. There was a really interesting exhibition of travel photos, which we really enjoyed. Best of all, it was really quiet... More

I love the building,it could be much more interesting with more offers. Yesterday I attend the N°1 of the Tarkowsky movies series. It was suppose to start at 8 pm till 9,30PM, but they have started 30 minutes late,I do not know why. The movie was full of poesie, worth the trip, but for us coming by bus from Sliema, asap the movie... More

We went to a photographic exhibition on places and the people of Malta which was really fascinating. The building itself is unique and I imagine very cool in the summer! Here you will also find the excellent cafe/restaurant, Inspirations, which I have already reviewed. Found just opposite the Auberge de Castille, and the entrance can be found just past the... More

I was there yesterday and apart from a few pictures and drawings, there was nothing on, nothing to see. Perhaps wrong timing

The "inspirations" cafe is a really good pit stop either before or after visiting Valletta. Art exhibitions are frequent. All aspects of the arts are covered though - music, cinema etc. Great place to pop into when in Valletta
