For someone who is experienced it’s not a thing! It’s short 1 1/2 hours to the top. A pretty view between the two lakes Kochel and Walcher see. The way is easy but be aware to have the right shoes on, since the lil creek runs in some spots even through the walking path it can get slippery! It’s general a very nice and short trip to get way but that’s also the bad thing you might not be alone since it’s crowded specially around the hot August weekends! A lil walk going the mountain top down there is a great lil Wirtschaft with scrambled eggs some beer a plate with cold cuts or cheese and fresco buttermilk reasonable prices! Very nice experience!

First time hiking in the snow- Mid December
Dec 2018 • Friends
Caught the train from Munich central station (München Hbf) to Kochel~approx 1:25hrs. Then, took the bus towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Get off at Kesselberg Paßhöhe, Kochel a.See. Catching the bus back to Kochel hbf little tricky. We had to walk approx  30mins to the nearest bus stop from the hike's starting point. Check bus times so you don't need to wait for long (times are limited 1-2hrs between each bus). The hike took approx. 3 hours. It was easy to a moderate level hike. We hiked during mid December so temperature around mid morning was -1°C but you do get warm when you hike. I wore a breathable long sleeve layer, waterproof ski pants, 1x thermal pants layer, beanie, neck gaiter, a waterpeoof gloves and a good waterproof jacket ( 700 fill down). Wuld recommend to bring  a thin jacket as my 700fill down was too warm after 30 min into the hike.  Make sure you have good hiking shoes as there are parts which are slipperry. Overalll a good snow hike  for amateurs :)

Hiking day-trip from Munich
Sep 2016 • Family
After about 45 minutes by car from Munich you reach the Jochberg, an easy to climb mountain. You can park your car aside the street and start the hike rightaway. Good shoes and a bit of condition are sufficient to reach the top. From there you can descend to the restaurant where you can have lunch. Along the beautiful lake you can reach your car again.

Around the lake on the our bikes
Jul 2015 • Couples
It takes about 3 hours to ride a bike around this 26 km lake. It is gorgeous and the beaches just beg for a quick swim in the summer.
