THE place to buy Icelandic wool
Nov 2021
We bought lovely Icelandic wool items from this shop. It looks a little chaotic from the door, and it does take a little commitment to go through some of the shelves. But The prices were competitive (if not significantly cheaper) than the fancy stores a few doors down--and the service and the knowledge were unsurpassed. I highly recommend this small, basement store as the go-to for woolen products.

Excellent service and good prices

Amazing jumpers, more reasonable than any others found on the island.
We both wanted a jumper but had been put off by the expensive prices in other stores. The lady helped us choose. Great service, help and a massive range of sizes and colours/styles. I am thrilled with my purchase !

Wonderful place with authentic goods from Iceland. Make sure you check where products are produced in shops in Reykjavik. This store carries only Icelandic made products.

Very convenient

This is a nice shop and it was not far from where I stayed. I was surprised that local guides have not mentioned about this place. I heard about this when one of the shops recommended it.
Great customer service and bought items made in Iceland.

I found exactly what I was looking for
Sep 2021
Although there are many shops in Iceland selling beautiful sweaters, I headed right to the Handknitting Association because I had read about it before arriving in Reykjavik. It was a wonderful experience. A very helpful employee brought out sweaters from the shelves according to size, color, and style I was looking for, There was no pressure to buy, and she answered all my questions about laundering and care. I knew that I wanted a handknit sweater and within 20 minutes I had made my selection. I highly suggest before going that you have some idea of style and colors you are looking for. Otherwise, it might be overwhelming to come to a decision. Also, masks are required at this time. It is not a very large store and can be quite busy.

Look for sweaters outside Reykjavik
Jun 2021 • Couples
You will find Better colors and deals outside Reykjavik. There are lots of “handwerk” shops where local women display sweaters they have made. In Reykjavik hand knit are about 32K Krona, they are about 23K and have many more colors in the country. Yes, the Reykjavik store offers VAT refund, but that still doesn’t make up the difference.
