Elding is a tour supplier in Reykjavik offering whale watching and other adventures at sea all year round. We are conveniently located just off Reykjavik's old harbor. The various types of whales commonly sighted include minke whales, white-beaked dolphins, harbor porpoises and the popular humpback whales. We will be accompanied by sea birds such as gannets, puffins, guillemots, cormorants, gulls, kittiwakes, arctic terns, and many more. Check our online Whale Diary for daily updates on whale sightings. To make our tours even more comfortable, we provide our passengers with warm (and floatable) overalls and raincoats. For safety reasons, all children under 12 years of age are required to wear life jackets during the tour.

We enjoyed the vessel and the commentary by Diego. We saw some dolphins but no whales. Just unlucky, I guess.

The boat was clean and nice, but a 3-4 hour boat ride to see one Minke whale (looks like a black dolphin) from a distance, and 3 dolphins. They should not run this tour in the summer when the whales are not around.

While visiting Iceland, a friend and I had booked these two tours. It was wonderful! We enjoyed the fast ride on the jet boat for puffins and the bigger boat for whales. The staff is exceptional and treat you great. They provide very warm suits...More

The Elding offered a very professional service from beginning to end. We pre-booked tickets online with pickup and everything went smoothly and according to plan. On the ship everyone was offered warm overalls and children were required to wear life jackets. Safety was a primary...More

Went out on a cloudless warm (on land) day at 1pm on a Thursday. Sea was a bit choppy. We had lots of layers on so didn't need the free suits they offer. Trip lasted 3 hours and 45 minutes because there wasn't much activity...More

Well, I have been on these tours trice in Iceland, once in New Zealand, few times in Greenland and once in California. They are all the same: most of the time you end up seeing few sprouts and tails in distance. Much of it depends...More

I joined the Reykjavík Whales in the Midnight Sun Tour one evening in August and it was a wonderful experience. We were very lucky with the weather so the scenery was absolutely beautiful and it was very cozy to watch the sunset out in the...More

I know that whale watching is totally subjective to the behavior of the whale of course, but this excursion was quite disappointing and not worth the cost by a long shot. We did spot a few whales but all we saw was the back a...More

We were blessed with a calm, sunny day and saw both white nosed dolphins and a minke whale (briefly). We stayed on the top deck for the entire trip and enjoyed the lovely views of Reykjavik and the surrounding mountains. Our guide was very well...More
