A fun way to get to see nature close up. Very well run activity with personal service!

I was looking for something different to do from our cruise and found this on Trip Advisor. I E-mailed and set up a plan with Julianne, who picked us up from the ship and drove us... read more

I thought I would be tölting over meadows and heath. Bu no! We were a group of 6 pax. Two inexperienced. We rode with 2 guides. We got more time than 1 hour because we - the horse - walked slowly along a gravel road. I asked if we could split up in two groups. Ot summed up to 2x20... More

I was looking for something different to do from our cruise and found this on Trip Advisor. I E-mailed and set up a plan with Julianne, who picked us up from the ship and drove us to the farm about 20 minutes away. She explained a bit about the area on the pleasant drive over. When we got there our... More

What an unbelievable experience. The owner Juliane was so accomodating with our arrival time. The setting of the North iceland was unbelievably beautiful. So worth the drive north for the quiet and peaceful setting with beautiful views. Our guides Anna and Laura were so sweet. I can't wait to go back for another ride. Polar Hestar will over deliver and... More

My wife had a two hour ride and really enjoyed the experience. Nice people who were helpful and friendly answering all her questions. Coffee and cakes were good as well. Lots of animals that were obviously well looked after.

Looking back, this is one of the activities I enjoyed most in Iceland. Within an hours notice, they were able to accommodate my boyfriend and me for a two hour ride with a guide - which felt like a good amount of time for a beginner to get comfortable on a horse and enjoy the scenery. It was just the... More

We had a 3-mo visitor tour guide from Germany named Steffi. She guided all of our horses nicely and felt safe under her guidance. She suggested us to wear a bright orange jumpsuit saying the wind up on the hill might make us feel really cold. Weren't we glad we listened to her. At some points, it got very cold.... More

I rode a lot in middle and high school, and am now 55...but wanted to try out the tolt gait that I saw in several riders as we traversed the Ring Road. Polar Hester set up the ride via email with no fuss, from the night before (original email) to ride on the ride the following afternoon (today, April 3)... More

We visited Akureyri in April of 2013, but I'm just getting around to reviewing places. My husband and I had an amazing time at polar hestar. Communication before the ride was excellent, and so were the instructions and guidance during the ride. This was my first time on a horse of any kind, but our instructors got us comfortable enough... Stefan was one of the best hosts we had during our trip around Iceland. He was very nice and funny. His horses were beautiful. We went riding this January and even though it was really cold, we were out for a little over an hour. Both, my friend and I, are beginners but we were able to trot a bit... More

We only had time for a very short ride, but as I am also a horse breeder and trainer at home I just had to come and have a ride on the iconic Icelandic horses. It was most memorable and a fun outing suitable for anyone. You really should try it as the Icelandic horses are haired with the tilt... More
