Iceland reveals a new wonder around every bend - and Myvatn is no exception. There are lava fields, a gorgeous lake, bubbling pools, steam venting from the earth, hot pots and a spectacular waterfall. It's well worth spending a few days here.

Between the blue hot water and the fumes coming from the ground, it feels like another planet. We didn't plan on seeing this, but we sure are glad we did. Such an incredible place. Despite the very cold weather, I didn't want to leave.

We were advised not to miss this place, but in comparison for instance with the glacier Jokusarlon, whale watching, geysers, Gullfoss waterfall and other places the lake Myvatn can be skipped. Moskytoes, very bad opportunities to eat, go further a bit and stay in

We spent a whole day in the Myvatn area, and it was hardly enough to see it all. Our favorite places were: 1. Lake Myvatn - spooky and calm on this day 2. Dimmuborgir - a Fairyland of volcanic spires 3. Hverfell - an easily...More
