We took a trip from Vaasa to Umeå with Wasaline's new ferry. Compared to ferries which goes from Helsinki or Turku to Sweden this is quite small, but just perfect for this purpose. We had also our car with us.
On our way to Sweden we had à la carte -lunch and it was nice. On our way back to Finland we had a buffet dinner and it was better than à la carte.... tells just how good the buffet is. I am glad we traveled first day time so we could see everything in a day light - but it was wonderful to came back in the evening - the sun set was so beautiful. There is also a small shop if you happen to need something.
And since there is actually nothing else to do than have a lunch or dinner and admire the scenery - I recommend to take a good book, charge batteries for you devices or play cards with your friends.

The new ferry is fantastic. It fits its purpose to perfection. Friendly staff and good food onboard. The only thing i miss is better tables in the business lounge for doing proper work on the pc.

The smoothest ferry ride in the cleanest, most comfortable surroundings. Super efficient boarding and disembarkation.
The a la carte restaurant was an unexpected and pleasant surprise. The food and service were exceptional. Thank you to the staff for being so welcoming.
Highly recommend.

A lovely day out on this shiny New ferry.
Booked a seat in the business lounge which was worth the money, comfortable and peace. So clean and bright everywhere. Bus to ferry harbour from centralstation - € 3,20.

Don't expect much in the way of customer service. If the boat is delayed by 12h, don't expect any compensation. If you booked a bus to the harbor and come 1 minute late, they will leave you, even if they know you're coming.

Horrible and totally uncompromising.

The big ferry which can hold many cars, trucks, caravans and motorcycles is old. Lots of rust to be seen. But it’s clean.

Loading and offloading is extremely fast and efficient, 30 minutes and vehicles were offloaded and loaded for the next trip.

The prepaid buffet was fine, lots of choice, but the enormous queue before entering is crazy; one person who inspects tickets and serves drinks is totally not efficient!

The business lounge is nothing to write home about if it weren’t for the peace and quiet. Seats don’t even recline, so no napping.

The Wasaline ship Wasa Express is not new but well kept. The trip takes three and half hours from Umea to Vaasa or vv. There are several restaurants, bars and cafes on board. We tried the A La Carte Restaurant and both the food and service were first rate. The pepper steaks, served with grilled veggies, were excellent. So was the mascarpone and berries desert. There is also a shop onboard where one can buy alcoholic bevwrages, cosmetics and candies. However, it is not duty free as the sailing is within Eutopean Union. We spent the last part of the trip on outside deck to admire the beautiful sunset. One can also buy a lounge seat or even a cabin but we saw no need for those as the trip is very short.

This is the shortest crossing time over the gulf of Bothnia. 4 hours. Ok ferry but nothing special. If sunny sit outside!

Pleasant boat and an experience going through the ice. Buffet meal would have been fine if the hot dishes had been hot.

I went on a choir trip with our church choir with Wasa Line between Umeå-Vasa return trip. The whole company started eating a dinner buffet that was plentiful and good. Unfortunately, there were only a few lockers where you could lock the luggage so we had to take the bags in the dining room. There was a café at the other end of the boat and a gift shop, a few toilets and a newsroom on the ground floor, as well as conference rooms and toilets on the upper floor as well as WiFi. The only places for the social gathering were the hall along the boat where simple chairs and tables were set up. The voyage Umeå, Sweden-Vaasa, Finland Friday night took 4.5 hours. The hour is set one hour ahead from Sweden to Finland.
