About
It didn't start with a bang nor with a flash from above, no, the story of our very own Irish Pub O'Malley's begins on a Friday evening at the end of winter in March 1994. The doors did open and the beer did flow... "Continual cheerfulness is a sign of wisdom" Now, over twenty years later, we try and keep the same standards of cosiness, happiness and quality service, albeit on a bigger scale. With live music most weeks, a very relaxed setting, friendly staff and the city's greatest selection of beers and ciders (over 100 different types and counting), we are proud of what we have accomplished! "May the roof above us never fall in and may the friends beneath it never fall out" Our beloved watering hole has seen an expansion in recent times... We are now proud to boast our club side where you can get those bums shaking on the dancefloor, to the backdrop of old and new classic tunes spun by our resident DJ's, or the opportunity to just sit and chill out and be with friends... The pub remains the same, beers and ciders flow, accompanied by rock, soul, blues and of course some good old Irish music. Those wanting to "exercise" while they sink their responsibly consumed beverages may play pool, darts, air hockey or one of our many board games. We also have O'Malley's Sauna, big enough for up to 30 people, complete with swimming pool. Contact us to arrange a visit. "Count your joys instead of your woes, count your friends instead of your foes" So come and join us for a few and then perhaps a few more and bring friends because you should enjoy good times with good company... Open everyday from 3pm. until late! Sláinte.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Pit stop on the way to hotel late at night. Very good selection of whiskeys and other drinks too. Staff was friendly and service was quick. The biggest surprise was in the check, almost 20€ discount from the shot of whiskey, without asking, unprecedented thing for me to happen. Spacious place, live music once and a while. Terrace was quite big too. Great place to enjoy nightcap or maybe something else too.

This atmospheric pub is located on the ground floor of the Central wing of Sokos Hotel Royal.

The prices were reasonable as there was a Lucky Hour going on.

The service was friendly.

Very friendly service and we got fast everything we needed. Pool was cheap as were the beers, altought it might affect that there was some kind of sales 16:00-20:00.

Very warm and cozy atmosphere, I loved the old, historical style. 5/5 I would recommend.

A few of us are on a road trip through Finland, where we've met really nice, friendly people. That changed for us somewhat last night, when we went to the above pub, at about 9.30 pm, in Vaasa, Finland.

It was late and it was cold (the temperature being 14 degrees). At the entrance to the pub, we were stopped by a brusque security person, who demanded that my husband remove his jacket. On being asked why, since he wanted to keep his jacket on (it being cold) he was told 'restaurant rules'. Being someone who always adheres to rules, he dutifully removed his jacket and paid the 3 Euro fee using his American Express Card, while the two remaining people (including me) walked into the pub.

When I entered, I observed, that all the local Finnish people sitting there, were wearing their jackets, there wasn't a single person inside the restaurant who wasn't wearing a jacket, or was atleast allowed to keep it on their person. So I walked out, and observed another Finnish customer walking in, being allowed to keep his jacket on, with no fee being charged or any comments being exchanged.

When I pointed this out to the security person, I was told, 'rules come into effect when I come in' (so Rambo, and wow so macho!). When I told him it was racist and discriminatory, he gave me an insolent stare and said 'my rules'. I'm saying here, what I said to him, which was 'shame on you'.

We told him to return the jacket, he kept the 3 Euros for the ten minutes that we were there (which I don't care about, since it wasn't about the money, just the principle of it) and we walked out.

In the 30+ countries we have visited, this is the first time that we have experienced such discriminatory behavior. I'm all for rules, as long as they apply to EVERYONE.

On the restaurant itself, it seemed decrepit, we were in there for 10 minutes, with no service staff making eye contact. I don't know if it was a drunken customer or a drunken member of the staff who lurched up to us and made some inane comments, which we ignored. Overall, horrible, terrible experience.

Not only did they lose 100 Euros of business in tangible terms, but they contributed to an experience, which will stay with us now. If you're non Finnish or i'm thinking 'non white', best that you stay away from this place, they don't want your business.

Never ever! Good start of evening, but.... With my friend, we spent about 100€ and were threw out just because I was falling asleep! I slept 3 hours today, they just told me I am drunk. Didn't do anything bad, didn't attack anybody, didn't tell anything to anybody, just was tired. And was threw out violently. Foreigners aren't welcome here.

Central location near Market Place and many hotels. They have live music during weekends and they have large selection of drinks(especially beers and whiskeys). Unfortunately service wasn't that attentive and they also have to make some renovation there

This pub is located downstairs in the Central wing of Sokos Hotel Royal.

It was nice to watch the 'Saturday Night Fever' in Vaasa, old American cars passing by the pub.

The service was friendly.

The beer selection is the only good think about this pub.

Its old and is in a desperate need of a restauration. There are holes in the door to the toilet and the furniture needs an upgrade.
But the worst is the three euro they charge for hanging your jacket which also is required...

Quite run down. Lousy service, unfriendly and homophobic. They could not even make proper Cuba Libre!

When the weather is dark and cold in Vaasa, I and my girl friends decided to go out for having a good time with a nice life music at the PUB.
