Really small museum but in 3 floors. NIce personell and very blanced and good exhibitions. In city center.

Go for the paintings

Just to see the house is worth the visit itself. The art collection is varied and impressive, there was also a nice exhibition on the top floor about the collectors.

Probably the least friendly staff I have met in any museum/gallery. Perhaps they were not expecting any visitors?!

Nice small museum

A museum that used to be the home of an art collector. Located in an art nouveau building. Collection put together with good taste, contains works by some big names like Matisse and Picasso, but many lesser known yet good artists as well. Upstairs showcases some rooms that are in the form they used to be in times gone by, also interesting to see. Good catalogues in each room of the museum.

Vaasa has several good museums, along with Pohjanmaan museo I liked this one a lot. Kunstin taidemuseo, that exhibits modern art, was less to my liking -- a bit too modern for me.

Local art museum with good collection of its own. Also good exhibitions with varying themes. Been there several times, sometimes more interesting but always worth a visit.

Small art museum

This museum is located in one of the oldest buildings in Vaasa. It was built in 1864 for a home of Tikanoja merchant family.

Frithjof Tikanoja was an art collector. His extensive collection includes art from such renowned artists as Paul Gauguin, Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso.

On our visit, there was a special exhibition 'With Hats Askew' which displayed various old hats.

A fascinating if small art museum. Good place to get in touch with Finnish golden era art as well as occasional others. Recommended!
