True Finnish experience!

It was amazing to be able to participate in the experience of ice-swimming + sauna. Don't expect the sauna to be quiet / relaxing - everyone is chatting and it really feels like you've entered into their community. Towels are provided but bring sandals or watershoes if you want to go jump in the lake -- the deck is REALLY COLD :)

Went to the winter sauna in winter
Feb 2019
Here's what I did. Found out opening times. Took the bus from the market square. Preferably when it was dark. Walked through the woods. Got changed. Stepped into the wonderful public sauna. Enjoyed the steam. Enjoyed the buzz of conversation. Walked out and onto the jetty. Stepped into the icy water. Back to the sauna. Maybe half a dozen times. Enjoyed the sense of relaxation. It's what I miss most about not living in Finland.

A great beach all year around
Jul 2018 • Family
The Ispoinen beach (Ispoisten uimaranta) is close to the city centre and easy to reach with a bus.

The beach itself is nice and water clean (though not clear due to earth particles). For kids there is a small playground.

In summer there is a kiosk selling coffee, cold drinks, ice-cream etc.

There are also good saunas (for a small fee) - and an opportunity for winter swimming, too.

The area also has beautiful nature.

A very nice beach, not far from central
Jul 2016 • Friends
Ispoinen beach is probably the closest beach to Turku's central. You can easily get there with a buss or your own car, there is a big parking lot. At summer the beach is very popular, due to it's location and relaxed athmosphere. You can also go there at winter, on selected days they organize ice swimming and hot saunas for all who are willing to try this excotic hobby :)

Public sauna and beach for Ice Swimming in a large group
Feb 2017 • Friends
We go here once in a while for ice swimming during the winter. Its got a lot of people and the discussion in the sauna is on going. When you spend a few moments just listening to other people you might find your self in another world in Finland.

A very nice and well-kept beach not so far from the centre of Turku! The water was very clean and it was a real pleasure to swim there on a hot August day!

A small beach area at the surrounding of Turku
Jul 2016 • Couples
The beach is located right outside of Turku, around 10 mins drive from the city centre. During summer, you are able to swim in the sea. There are also life guards during day time. there is a small cafe, so you can take coffee or something else. But it is always good if you bring along something to eat.
beside swimming in the sea and sunbathing, you can also walk in the forest near by. It is a perfect place for a family outing.
