Amazing nature but insufficient ferry services
Jul 2021 • Couples
Drove this route in July 2021 in 2 days with overnight at Mossala. The route was very packed as it was high season, lines of cars waiting for the ferries were long, at some points dozens of vehicles and the ferry would only take 27 and goes only every 2 hrs (Iniö-Houtskari is the most critical ferry, and it costs which is okay for me) with limited times, starting around 9am and stopping before 6pm. So you can end up stuck on one of the islands like Iniö (if going counter clockwise) and can't get a place in last ferry so can't make your reserved accommodation on next island. All, virtually all inns, cabins, guesthouses and hotels are fully booked so you might end up sleeping in your car. They should have longer working hours, why stop at 6pm in peak season when sun goes down at 10.45pm. Ridiculous and such small ferries are not enough to cater for the amount of people doing the route. It's a shame as the route is so pretty and amazing nature. I am a local from closeby and will probably not do it again in summer time nor recommend it to our international guests as capacity is insufficient.

Small Archipelago Tour
Jun 2020 • Friends
Cycled with my friend the Small Archipelago Tour (110km) on two days.

We started from Turku via Parainen to Nauvo.
Cycling roads were good in mainland, and even when you drove next to the road. It wasn't crumbled on the side like old roads are. Drivers were clearly used to cyclist as they slowed down and made careful by-passes.

We stayed the night in Nauvo and the next Day took the ferry to Rymättylä. Rymättylä was the hardest part of the route. Hills after hills, Road was old and majority of the time you drive on crumbled side of the drive way. Plus side was that hill up means hill down so we got some really good speed.

Naantali was beautiful and road from Naantali to Turku was build for cycling.

We took it more as an exercise and as first timers didn't want to get off the path for 5kms or 10kms to recommended sightseeing places. Just enjoyed the pace of cycling.

Mediocre
Aug 2019
Honestly, it is not that much different from literally every other place in Finland. The trail is not next to the sea so you pretty much just see pine trees, which again is just like every other road in Finland. If it is a nice sunny summer day and you have time to kill or want to cycle or something, yeah, this could be nice. But if you are a tourist, this is pretty boring.

existing different rings from 45 op to 100 km.
Amazing experience to be done.

Bicycle tour
Jul 2019 • Family
We did tour by bicycle. Generally everything was wonderful, as described before. Still, some things to keep in mind:
1. We did it in second half of July, and wanted to book accommodation before ca 1-2 weeks. At that time it was really difficult to find available accommodation. Book well ahead!!
2. We did tour clockwise. Around Taivassalo there were some sections of road, where cyclists had to share road with heavy/fast traffic. Not really fun and safe-specially with kids.

Roundtrip by bike in the archipelago
Jul 2018 • Friends
The ferries connecting the islands of the Turku archipelago enable bikers to make a great round trip. Hints: Check the ferry timetables, book your accommodation in advance and go in June or July - many places for accommodation close already fairly early in August when the Finnish school children return to school.

Lived in the archipelago half of my life...
Oct 2018 • Friends
I´ve lived in the southwest archipelago, the Baltic sea half of my life...I think ther´s not anything similar anywhere in the world... I´ve seen beautiful archipelagos and islands in Greece, Ireland, Scotland ( and of course Sweden, but it´s allmost the same area...)...Thousands of islands, peace...

nice relaxing trip
Aug 2018
We enjoyed the Archipelago trail or at least the parts we did. We stayed at a great B&B in Nagu (Vastergard) and took day trips. Very impressed with the ferry system- runs frequently and is free! And we happened upon a Sunday concert when we went to visit one of the traditional wooden churches. It was an unexpected treat, No mosquitos was a plus as well.
