Tampere Cathedral is located in very center of Tampere City, just 400m from railway station, about 800m from main bus station. There´s also nearby underground parking place for about 800 cars, which has won European Parking Award 2013, only 200m from Cathedral. Cathedral itself has...More

We have visited many cathedrals and this one had a very unique atmosphere - mainly due to the very unusual murals, paintings and stained glass windows. Would definitely recommend for a short visit.

Located very close to the center, maybe less than 10 minutes from the railway station. In front of it there is a lovely park with benches for you to sit on. Worth taking pictures from the outside but I did not find the interior very...More

And interesting interior which I can understand why it had a mixed reaction when it first opened. If you have the opportunity to attend a concert - particularly one which involves the organ - this is worth attending for a treat to the ears and...More

Extraordinary inside and out, Tampere's Lutheran cathedral is like no other church. Built in the national romantic style, and designed by Lars Sonck, with much of the interior painting by symbolist Hugo Simberg, it's probably the most Finnish of buildings, if that's possible. For a...More

From the outside, Tampere Cathedral seems almost "generic," but don't let that fool you. Go inside and be amazed by the architectural detail and the stunning murals.

Cathedral is famous for its frescoes, painted by the symbolist Hugo Simberg between 1905 and 1906.The paintings aroused considerable adverse criticism in their time, featuring versions of Simberg's The Wounded Angel and The Garden of Death. Of particular controversy was Simberg's painting of a winged...More

As far as I can remember it was 10.00 to 17.00 but ceremonies or services could mean that this is adapted. We went there in the early afternoon at around 13.00.
