Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nationally second to Helsinki in railway traffic the station is still relatively small though enlargements have been made since it was designed in 1936. The style is Functionalism visible in the high lobby and elegant lamps, the tall clock tower stands separately. The Intercity train takes only 1,5 hours from Helsinki making Tampere an ideal day trip destination as you will arrive straight in the city center.

The first wooden station building was built already in 1876, but the current functionalist building is designed by Eero Seppälä & Otto Flodin and completed in 1936. The station is very busy with many departures, but you can see that the time has changed. In the building is a long row of old fashion empty ticket windows, when people nowadays buy their tickets at internet. Still they have 2-3 new modern ticket selling places immediately when you step in to the station.

Tampere Central Station is a functionalist building completed in 1936.
The city's main street Hämeenkatu begins at the railway station, continuing over the Hämeensilta bridge to its western end at the Aleksanteri church.
About 80 trains arrive at and depart from the Tampere railway station every day, with over 5 million passengers yearly using the station.
Most of the traffic is towards Helsinki but there are also railway connections northwards, and to the cities of Turku, Jyväskylä, Pori, and Vaasa.
The station area is quite big. For a first-timer, it can be a little difficult to choose the right thoroughfares for the easiest route.

We did stay in a Hotel close to the Tampere CS for some day during holiday. Modern station Hall with a large tower we could se from fare away so alwayes easy to find "home". Many taxis in front, buses close by and in the station smal restaurants and shops and even a haircut posibel. Did leave Tampere by train, easy to find platform after easy info on the screens.
We did find the CS relativ ly clean compared to other CS.

Tampere station is a major hub for VR railways. Train departures enable visitors to explore Finland in every direction and is a good rest place for those commuting between Helsinki and Lapland. The building itself was built in 1936 to the designs of Eero Seppälä and Otto Flodin but the clock tower was added a little later. Although somewhat plain on the outside the interior has a host of small cafes and restaurants for commuters and visitors alike. Sadly the floors and platforms need some attention and it is a sad indictment on members of the public that they cannot place garbage in the many waste bins provided.
