The world's only Moomin Museum
Aug 2020
This museum is located in the Tampere Hall. It takes visitors on a magical journey into the fairy-tale world of the original Moomin illustrations by Tove Jansson.

The interior is quite dark. I have never been a Moomin fan and our visit was quite quick.

Tampere Hall also houses an international Moomin reading library and a gift shop with Moomin products.

Eye candy
Aug 2020
Nice big and modern museum showcasing Moomins history. Visually exhibition is great offering some nice technical tricks and eye candy. There are many fantastic original miniature constructions of these tales. You can get most out of it if you have read the books and now some background. Audio info is greatly available at FI, SE, EN, RU, JP and written texts are in Finnish and English. Photos are forbidden.

Museum was crowded and bit restless because of all families and small kids. Ticket price is bit high if you are not into Moomins. You can leave and enter museum 6 hours with tickets. Tampere talo has cafe and Sorsapuisto park outside offers nice exhibition of different species of hens and lawn areas to relax.

Only for hardcore fans, not for small children
Jul 2020
The museum is full of black and white Moomin drafts and quite a few miniature models from the world of Moomins. However, our five year old child found the museum quite boring. Black and white sketches were surely uninspiring for her (and usually too high anyway) and all the miniature models were behind a glass. There was not a playground of any kind for small children, just a couple of spots with something to do. Half an hour was enough for us.

Ten must know facts about the Moomin Museum
Dec 2019 • Family
The worlds only Moomin Museum is locates at Tampere Talo aka the biggest opera house in Finland.

Good location to visit as family, both adults and children has something to do.

They have translations with Finnish, Swedish, Russian, English and Japanese.

The ticket allows you to say 4 hours but 1-2 hours is enough.

It is forbidden to take photos inside of the museum except one location ( staff will help you)

It’s the second location of the Moomin Museum (first one was at the central library).

There are storytelling times when visitors can listen the stories (adults and children).

Every day there is an art workshop on the B1 floor

All of the original drafts and models are visible in the Museum.

The location is close to city centre and central train station (10-15 min walk).

Fabulous visit to Moominland!
Mar 2019
Totally absorbing, utterly fascinating museum for anyone who knows anything about Finn Family Moomintroll - and for anyone who hasn’t met them before. Lots to see and do, and plenty of information about their creator Tove Jansson and her partner as well as superb displays of scenes from the books created by the two women on their ‘summer island’ and carried back to the mainland in their little boat.

I spent a couple of hours there, loved it, and would willingly have spent many more, but had to move on from Tampere. I intend to go back!

The multi-function building in which the museum is housed is also well worth exploring - I simply didn’t have the time on my visit, but again would hope to go there again.

Lots and lots of Moomin things to buy: you can’t photograph inside the exhibition but you can buy a catalogue, postcards, cards, mugs, bowls and plates and many other Moomin goods - you have been warned! It could be an expensive visit....

Not only for the kids
Jul 2019
Moomin Museum at the Tampere Hall offers a comprehensive view on Moomin characters, Tove Jansson and the whole phenomenon. I was surprised how much it was for the adults. Even more than for our small (2 and 3-years-old) kids. It's prohibited to take photos inside the museum. Definitely worth a visit if you have even a slight interest on Moomins.

For Moomin Fans
Aug 2019
In the Tampere Hall you can find the Moomin Museum, which is the worlds only Moomin Museum.
It is a museum which we would recomend for mostly older children or adults. It is in a good and informativ way telling the story about the Moomin Troll and Tove Jansson. So many things to see and hear about the different books. In one room there were some TV shoving the films about the Moomin how they were in the different years. It is not possibel to take fotos in the museum.
Price is 12,00 Euro which is may be to the high side.

hoping for something more
Aug 2019
I understood a lot going to the museum about the books and something about the life of Tove Jansson; But as a fan of the cartoon series i was hoping to find a media library with all the moomins tv shows, especially the old ones.
