Tiny little museum
May 2019 • Business
This is a small but compact museum bringing the history and traditional skills of Rauma to the visitors like the laces, equipment for sailing, traditional outfits, furniture in wood and so on. The museum shop is rather expensive.

Telling about the history and birth of Rauma
Jul 2017 • Friends
Rauma is one of the oldest cities in Finland, located on the West-Coast. Old part of the town is very well saved - beautiful with wooden and brick houses, interiors, flower beds, stoned streets.

The Old Town Hall Museum, Marela Museum House and Kirsti are three museum who are included in your 8€ ticket (or free with the Museo Card).

Ground floor is dedicated to the lace activity/speciality of Rauma.

Small but detailed collection.

There are hundreds of old documents here, lovely painted chests, a cross from the 1200s and much history of Rauma. Sadly, we could not read the documents, but I am sure they were fascinating for history buffs.

Small museum in histroic building about typical life in old Rauma
Jul 2015 • Couples
This onion domed town hall is right next to the main market square. If you like to learn about life in a different time, this is a great museum for you. It is really small and not too expensive, so it is a quick visit. We bought a ticket that gave us entrance to three small museums and it was a nice way to see the inside of some private buildings and learn a bit about the lifestyle of early inhabitants. I enjoyed seeing everyday objects, like the drum used to mark the evening curfew and a nautical weather vane.

The market square in front of the old town hall is a great place to observe the local men enjoying their morning coffee while catching up on the gossip - a daily routine. And a great place to get some fresh strawberries.

this late 18th century former town hall lies in the edge of the World Heritage town of Old Rauma( which despite being listed as a world heritage site is well worth a visit!). It is beautifully preserved building with a series of local displays including lacemaking- and other socual history material- when I visited there was an excellent up to date archaeology display about new discoveries of sites just outside the town- which I thought were excellent!
