A lovely afternoon cruise -the lunch was an excellent and copious buffet in this characterful old boat . Staff friendly and soothing views across lake and islands . Good value and surprised we were the only foreigners on the trip it seemed but maybe best kept a Finnish secret. There was some brief commentary from the captain which it would have been nice to have in English too

Nice and polite welcoming to the ship. The captain told about some places and spots during the boat trip with relaxed tone.
Weather was perfect and sunny and for me who’s been living 11 years in Lahti but never been on a cruise here before it gave me lots of new things and views and so new places! :)
Really liked the boat sightseeing between Lahti and Vääksy Canal!

One of the few Finnish _and_ English website to learn and book the cruise, so booking online was rather easy.
We were lucky to do the cruise at an overcasted day in Lahti, but the cruise actually was into sunset and mostly blue sky. Sunset and dusk over the lake on a boat is just marvelous!
Team on board is very friendly and Dinner was nice, water and coffee included, other drinks from the bar (0.4l draft beer for €6.50 sounds okay for Finland). Cruise across the lakes and through the Vääksy canal and lock is really nice and interesting.
The announcements of what to see, however, were in Finnish only.

The old steamship S/S “Suomi” is still sailing strong after 100 years. The nostalgic three-hour cruise is a must, if you want to experience the old-time charm of slow travel and see some of the beautiful archipelago of Lake Päijänne. There is a restaurant and a cafe/bar on the boat and seats both inside and on the deck.

Just completed a 3 hour evening trip to Lake Paijanne. That was really nice and highly recommended. It was nice sailing and seeing the houses from the lake and also the life, the boats, the swimming, etc.
We went with Rhea and a la carte dinner onboard. It was surprisingly good. We had low expectations, but the pike perch and goat cheese salad were really well prepared. Wine prices were also reasonable.

This ship is a steamship with over 100 years of history. We took a 3-hour lunch cruise on a sunny day. It cost 47€ per person including a buffet lunch and it was worth every cent. There is lots of space so sit or stand either outside or inside. There is a cefe, a bar on top with scenic views. And the restaurant is downstairs with good views as well.
The buffet lunch was good. We waited for the second seating (started midway) which was not as crowded as the first one. The variety and quality of food was excellent, even though they are short of space on a ship.
Strong recommendation from me!

The trip itself is worth every snap you take along it...there are 3 hour cruises for limited time and there are whole day cruises that take you all the way till Lahti.
The only thing is, there is dire lack of central information desk. Jyvaskyla tourist info center is closed on weekend, leaving most of the tourists at the mercy of self exploration...now isn't it amazing?
Even a spot for tickets issue does not exist on the pier. There is probably no advance booking. You need to walk to every boat owner to find out when it will leave. Some info is available if you know Finnish, but for the rest: be prepared to spend your entire day on the harbour and enjoy the still waters till your cruise honks the horn...

Jyväskylä City speciality is to be surrounded by lakes. You cannot leave the city without visiting lake Paijanne cruises. The lake is the second biggest one in the country and has most beautiful sights cruising along the small islands and beaches on the way. There are several cruises companies who arranges trips to lake with various lenghts. Variety of food and beverages is good, and you can even have a private cruise with all services you like. The ships are located in Jyväskylä City harbour and if you don't want to have a cruise, you still may feel the atmosphere by having a drink in sunshine at the dock of a ship.

Took a mid-summer fest cruise and it was overall nice sightseeing around lake Päijänne. I think it would be even better if we took evening cruise when all the bonfires were lit.

Going for one of the boat cruises is must-do in Jyväskylä as you can see very nice scenery of the shore of the lake. Our cruise was for 3 hours in the evening, so we saw very nice sunset and came back to the city when the lights were already on, which was beautiful ;-)

Yes, it does. There are tour boats that starts and ends same place. There is a few to choose between. We selected a 3 hour cruise and had dinner, which was surprisingly good. We did not expect anything.

We are planning to visit Jyvasklya in October. Are there any cruises running during that month?
