Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It's always nice to visit a new museum. This one was no exception, there were some very insightful works there. What I didn't like so much, was the upper floor exhibition. It felt like a jumble store, when everything worth something was crowded at the same small floor. Maybe less could be more there. All in all, this is the first of all museums at Lahti that is interesting to visit (others are for motor or sports lovers, not for me)

This museum was opened at the end of April on the premises of an old beer factory Mallasjuomat. It is a good thing that old factories will get a new life.
Here you can find all kinds of art starting from the contemporary to the classics and design.
When entering the exhibition you will be in a striking space with a huge 15-meter-tall immersive artwork Ahto by Ekho Collective. On the first floor in the other rooms, you will find contemporary art.
On the 3rd floor is the Lahti International Poster Triennial with poster makers from nearly 50 countries and more than 350 posters on display.
The top 5th floor has permanent exhibitions related to Lahti. You can see furniture design, as Lahti has been the center of the Finnish furniture industry. Also, you will find art treasures evacuated to Lahti from the collections of the Vyborg Art Museum in the 1940s.
After exploring the museum, you can refresh yourself in the three restaurant cafe bars located on the ground floor: Kahiwa Coffee Roasters, Malski Bistro, and Ant Brew pub.

This visual arts museum opened 2022 in Lahti city center. The building is former Mallasjuoma beer factory, nowadays called Malski. Exhibitions are in three floors. Great exhibitions.
In the same building, there is a great local coffee and pastries Kahiwa Coffee, a cozy restaurant Malskin Bistro and a small local brewery Ant Brewery.

A fine new art museum in Lahti, Finland👍😀 It is located circa 100 km from Helsinki. By train it takes one hour. The building of Malva used to be a big brewery and the rooms are very big for art exhibitions.

Amazing collaborative installation at entrance by EKHO Collective makes trip worthwhile on its own. Fabulous Dutch Maarten Baas exhibition continues the water theme. Glad to see policy is to switch to local/Finnish artists during winter months. Lovely cafe in ground floor.

This museum wasn't particularly children friendly. When our toddler touched a wall, the security guard came complaining. As if the walls were so fragile that a one year old toddler could brake them. We would have appreciated a more friendly attitude from the security guard. The security guard followed us like a shadow until we left that floor.

Very nice modern art museum. The main exhibition changes, but we had full ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ with Marten Baas. Posters exhibition was cool, and the little permanent show with Lahti furniture design gave some historical insight. Oh, and they do have one version of Gallen-Kallelas "Lake Keitele".

Lahti Museum of Visual Arts Malva (Lahden visuaalisten taiteiden museo Malva) is a modern multi-storey museum. It was opened in 2022 in Malski Building, which is an old brewery building.
I could say that this museum is a true modern art museum. They have modern art but the exhibition itself is very modern, too. They even have interactive artworks. In one room you may borrow a tablet and look at the drawings with the screen. In that way virtual scenes unfold in front of you. However, they have changing exhibitions. So activities may vary from time to time.
Although this is a modern art museum, I actually loved the highest floor most. There they have older art and Finnish design but also interesting historical facts about art, design, sports, war and Finnish companies. You can read texts both in Finnish and in English. So this is a very versatile museum which I can recommend for everybody.
Travel time from Helsinki to Lahti is only 50-60 minutes by train. So this is a nice one day trip from Helsinki, too.

Ahto is mesmerizing. Layout of the museum gets a little bit confusing for first timers. Beautiful spaces.
