Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked the Train Marin not really knowing what to expect. We were the only non French speaking on board that afternoon, but never the less we understood or at least managed to get the gist of it all. Wow the mussel beds and ropes go out for miles the bay is so flat and the water just keeps receding. We spent more time out side of the train up to our calves in warm sea water looking at nets and mussel beds. Catching small fish, at the fish traps. A truly great 2 hour trip well worth the money spent

The guide was amazing and witty. The 2 hour visit is splendid. The “pêcherie traditionnelle” allows you to have your feet in the water up to your knees and see crabs, rays, various fish, crabs, jelly fish. Etc…. We were never bored. You can stay on the train if mobility is an issue.

A great experience. Even though the commentary was in French, they had an English data sheet and it was fairly easy to get the drift of what they were talking about.

This review is based purely on the perspective of an English speaker who does not understand French. I understand that 99% of visitors are French.

The trip is remarkable and quite unique. The sight of the mussel farm is extraordinary. The only problem is that there was hardly a word of English. The commentary was none stop and I imagine it was really informative. I was so intrigued and in awe of what I was seeing I just wanted to know something about it. It was very frustrating. I had no idea at all what we were looking at. When I asked a couple of questions I got great answers, but I couldn't ask constantly. This is not too pick fault with the tour as we were told it was in French. I'm just letting none French speaker know what to expect.
I googled for information when I got home. Still a worthwhile visit I think, but would have been excellent with an explanation.

We loved our trip around the bay on the sea train. Anabelle was the perfect guide, and even though the commentary was all in French, she answered our questions in English and told us the names of the different species she'd caught.
It was fascinating to see how the famous bay mussels are farmed and so lovely to hear that she's ensuring the continuation of a family business.
We'd definitely recommend this trip. You won't be disappointed!!

This is such a fun tour!!! Mont Saint Michel has some of the largest tides in the world (10-15 meter or 35-50 feet difference between high and low tide. You ride out on the sand flats at low tide while enjoying a stunning distant view of Mont Saint Michel. Once you reach the mussel farms and fishing nets, you get out with your feet in the water and learn a ton about the region, the local fishing industry and the various sea critters. This is the best tour for kids (of all ages). You get to look at jellyfish, small rays, fish, shrimp, mussels, sardines and whatever else the sea brings in. And the views and sensation of being 5 km offshore is incredible. Isabel is a fun and entertaining guide. The tour is only in French, but it would still be a great experience even if you don't speak French.

We took a trip on the horses instead of the bus. Kids liked it but it was way too warm. Still a good experience and cheap enough.

We had booked this little walk and what was not our surprise! East of Cancale St Malo, this side of the bay looks duller. The small marine train offered us for 2 hours the visit of mussel breeding plans and the discovery of old-fashioned "fisheries".
The comments of the Annabelle Guide are relevant funny and the educational tone makes the walk very interesting.
Stops allow anyone who wants to get off the wagon for feet in the water listen, touch, grab fish, crustaceans... jellyfish 😂
Ancient fishing technique that interests adults and children...lots of laughter, smiles...even in the rain 😉
Thank you!
