Isopuisto Park
About
The largest constructed park in Kotkansaari, the Isopuisto Park was originally established around the Orthodox church of St Nicholas built in 1801. The Isopuisto Park is an English-style landscape park, where the terrain contours, natural trees and pathways made by the users have formed the basis of the design. The park has two playgrounds, a game field and a paddling pool for children plus an area for dogs.

Isopuisto is Kotka's largest built park. It is an English-style landscape park, the design of which has been guided by the shapes of the terrain.

There is an important building in the park, St. Nicholas Orthodox Church from the late 18th century. The park is as old as the church.

As it was winter during our visit, we saw some funny snowmen standing in the park.

It is a green park close to centre of Kotka. You can expect grass, trees and bushes there (in summer). Nice, but nothing special.

Isopuisto (in english: Big Park) is near the city center. Nice orthodox church is situated here.

Isopuisto has less flora/plantings and it's less maintained than other parks in Kotka. It's large area but there isn't much else than small dog park and small playground.

In the weekends (Fri & Sat) it's the most popular place for young locals to come and get drunk.
