About
The Sculpture Promenade of Contemporary Art with a length of approx. 2 kilometres traverses the centre of Kotka. The Linden Boulevard running parallel with Keskuskatu street won a national environmental structure award in 2001, when the first sculptures were also unveiled. In 2004, the Association of Finnish Sculptors granted the Pro Sculptura medal to the Sculpture Promenade. More than 20 sculptures have been placed between Port Kantasatama and Haukkavuori over a distance of approx. 2 kilometres. The sculptures are within a short walking distance of each other, and along the route there are cafes, restaurants, playgrounds and park benches if you wish to rest for a while. There is a separate brochure of the Sculpture Promenade.

Art walk through the city center
Feb 2021
This central 800-meter-long pedestrian street starts from Sibelius Park. The beautiful promenade is bordered by two parallel rows of linden trees. You can find many interesting sculptures along the way.

Artful walk through the city
Jun 2020
Fantastic free art collection showcasing the city. Walk by the route to see city's main attractions and 37 artworks tightly packed along the route. Info signs about the pieces are mostly missing which is shame. You have to follow the web page to get information about artworks.

This is great way to combine city walk and art spotting. Interesting also for kids. You can find playgrounds along the route in the city center.

Beautiful Finnish art

I stopped to watch this beautiful sculpture. At the time I arrived to Kotka the weather was quite bad and it was too dark to enjoy fully the place and the promenade. If you make it on a nice sunny day, don't miss it!

Smells like sewers
Jul 2017 • Family
A very good idea with lots of interesting sculptures, but somehow the air smells like sewer almost all the time. Really not a good atmosphere for enjoying the art.

Still great

The weather was really nice when I had a look at my beloved Sculpture Promenade. I can't get over the originality of the idea. Right from the outsized ants near the harbour to abstract sculptures and modernist statues nearer the centre, this is a gem of a street.

It's simply so interesting and fascinating. Even better, parts of it can't be avoided as some of it is on the main street.

Great idea
Jul 2016 • Couples
It's a simple but great idea: there are pieces of art in random places in Kotka. Most of the art is weird (modern/contemporary), but still interesting.

Better city

The idea of providing every year a new sculture gives a renewable view of the city, and so it makes it richer. I think it also gives you a route to walk through almost the whole city center with the chance of stopping and enjoying these scultures

What a lovely idea
Jun 2015 • Friends
It's quite amazing that a small provincial town should have firstly had the idea for a defined walk lined with statues and carvings and then that the artworks are of such consistently high quality. But then, this is that fabulous country Finland for you!

I loved the walk, not least that there are other attractions and things to see on the way.
