Aurinkolahti Beach (Aurinkolahden uimaranta in Finnish) is a very good and beautiful sandy beach in Vuosaari, Eastern Helsinki. It is very easy to come here from the city center of Helsinki. Just take a metro train to Vuosaari metro station and then walk 1.2 kilometers to the south. There are good services at the beach: dressing rooms, toilets, outdoor showers, lifeguards, an outdoor gym and a cafeteria named Cafe Biitsi. The seaside walking route is very beautiful. You can walk to Uutela outdoor recreation area and then come back to swim. We love Aurinkolahti Beach. It is extremely good for swimming but it is an ideal destination for a walking tour even without swimming.

This beach is located a little off to the side from downtown Helsinki, and therefore not that popular or well-known, except with people living in the area. Vuosaari is otherwise not that nice neighborhood, especially around the metro station.
Aurinkolahti is a newly constructed section of Vuosaari and the beach is great with a splendid view towards the sea. There are few restaurants, cafes nearby and also couple of boats during the summertime that you can take for a nominal fee. I believe one takes you to Hakaniemi, and other to Kaunissaari island.
The beach has one part that's quite shallow, and the other that gets deeper somewhat faster. There's also a beatiful promenade you can stroll along. Standard facilities exist, such as restrooms, changing rooms, showers and lifeguard on duty (during summer).

The biggest beach of Helsinki. Lovely! It is very easy to access by metro (station: Vuosaari). There is a small childrens playground and an outside gym right next to the beach. The Aurinkolahti area is full of beautyfull new urban housing architecture for those who are interested, and to east of the beach there is a lovely recreational forest area.

Lovely beach for walks or swim during the summer. Could have more people during the day and evening. There are also some nearby cafe with outdoor seating.

When I want to spend a day in the nature I normally go to Aurinkolahti Either by own car or by bus. The beach, rocky waterfront, nature trail, sea, Kampela and Fazer Cafes. Picknicking If you want, swimming

It is the best and biggest beach in Helsinki, in the Vuosaari neighbourhood (accessible by metro). The beach promenade even manages to give a slight Mediterranean vibe in warm summer days.

Close by, there are excellent options for hiking in the nature (Uutela nature trail on the wooded peninsula just to the east is the closest).

Of course the beach is nothing compared to some other countries, by Finnish standards it is excellent but Finland is not the place to come for a beach holiday. The closest place with beautiful sandy beaches stretching several kilometres is Estonia.

We really enjoyed walking along the beach and the shore line. Stunning views. There are places to eat near by and a lifeguard station for warmer months. Sea was frozen when we visited.

The Aurinkolahti beach is the best in Helsinki: big, loads of sand and clear water.

However, it's a great place to visit all year around; the Uutela nature trail, forest and rocks is right nearby, and the beach itself is always beautiful. In winter the sea will freeze over and you can "walk on water" and explore the shores and the archipelago by foot.

There are cafes and restaurants in the area, too.

This review has to be put into the right perspective; a beach at this latitude is not the same as in some other parts of the world. For Helsinki this the best. The view is beautiful. Nice restaurant next to the beach. During warm summer days the beach is crowded but most of the time it is practically empty. Short walk from the Vuosaari metro station.

A great beach for the whole family! Water is clean and clear – though ofcourse, this being Finland, quite refreshing temperature-wise…

The best thing though are the beautiful views from the beach – and the proximity to Uutela nature park with magnificient rocks, forest and views. We like to combine our visit with hiking in the next door Uutela. When it is too cold for a swim, we simply enjoy walking on the beach.

At the beach there is a beach café, which is okay – and close to the beach a small café-restaurant Kampela in a little wooden house.

In the area you will also find outdoor gyms and playgrounds.

You can reach the beach with a metro – or in the summer by a water bus from the city centre: if you have the time, I recommend the water bus which also provides for a glimpse of the beautiful Helsinki archipelago.
