Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Highly recommend this food tour. Heather is so knowledgable and engaging and all the tastings are delicious. You really get a feel for the local food culture on this tour as well as hearing lots of stories about Helsinki in general. I’d recommend not having breakfast and planning the tour for early on during your time in Helsinki.
I loved every minute of this tour :)

Best combination ever, food and sightseeing. The tour was not rushed so we took some time to really talk and get to know the city and country through Heather’s guidance and anecdotes. It’s said that once can really experience a culture through taste and food; got a deeper insight into the fabric of Finland as such. These five hours appealed to all five senses as we learnt a lot about Finland.

heather was very accommodating, it’s early in the tourist season for Helsinki and even though I was the only person in the tour it still went on. She took my allergies into consideration with the food options, and was very helpful with my trip in Helsinki. Heather was even able to get additional information from her contacts for the next leg of my trip to Tallinn. Only wish this tour also paired adult beverages with some of the tastings.

Heather's tour was a combination of food, geography, culture, history and politics (discussed in a most enlightened and educational manner). I don't think I could have learned more about Finland and its people in any other way. I highly recommend this tour.

It was such a pleasure to take a tour with Heather. She is so knowledgeable about Helsinki and Finland - it's history, it's design and of course it's flavors! As a seasoned traveler (60+ countries) that often goes on food tours, I can say this is probably one of the best I've taken!

My brother and I really enjoyed the day spent with Heather on her Fork in Hand tour. Heather provides a great mix of food, history, anecdote and experience with enthusiasm and energy. She clearly is a fan of Helsinki and it shines through in her tour. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend it! The salmon soup a real highlight. What was even better was that shortly after our tour we experienced a traditional Finnish Christmas and it was exactly as Heather said it would be. I hope your Christmas ham was everything you hoped for Heather!!

This was my third food tour in Europe this year and what a delightful experience. This tour will leave you full of history and full of fulfilling food. Tempted to come back for seconds during the summer.

On the morning of Heather's Helsinki Fork in Hand Tour, my husband and I were fortunate to have Heather to ourselves. Heather, who happens to be an Aussie has made Finland her home. Sharing her knowledge of the food, the culture and history, we explored a small section of Helsinki, including the Central Station where she pointed out a special historic spot, what was the oldest restaurant area with its early 1900 booths, decor and fittings. Below ground is the large supermarket. Having already sampled a popular, savoury and nutritious breakfast or anytime warmed pastry, and the vitamin C bomb - the juice of a certain berry, it was good to see where these products can be bought and their range. With an incredibly short season, the most is made of local produce: cloudberries, lingonberries, etc, many wild; the tree fruits, vegetables and root vegetables. From the range we saw, the Finnish take their seafood, deer and bear meats seriously. Exploring other iconic food establishments we continued our flavour filled tour. The pace was easy, the foods delicious and the conversations flowed. After a warming bowl of delicious soup, a special open sandwich and a range of tastings including delicious licorice from Finnish recipe, we turned our attention to some other iconic Finnish products... these inedible... but beautiful. Some more walking, thank goodness, as we were quite full, it was time for the final stop with extra special treats!
What a wonderful way to spend our final day in Finland...
I'd recommend doing this tour earlier as Heather passes on special discounts and information.

Heather is a superb guide with so much knowledge and just as much enthusiasm. You get to try some wonderful Finnish food, for example salmon soup and Karelian rice pie with egg butter and as you eat you learn about the people, food and traditions of the country. The 5 hour tour went by in a flash and we were sad when it finally came to an end. Very good value for money and make sure you only have a small breakfast.
