A sweeping 6-7 hectare park with the observatory at its center and a series of natural paths emanating from it like spokes on a bicycle wheel.

Tähtitorninvuoren puisto (Observatory Hill Park) is almost 7 hectares large. You find many statues or monuments, beautiful sitting places, nice lookout spots and a playground there. There are many places to take scenery photos in this park.

Observatory Hill is a 30-meter high hill next to the South harbor in Ullanlinna district.
It's mainly a park but there are also some buildings. The Helsinki Observatory from 1834 is the most important. It was designed by Carl Ludvig Engel.
The most impressive monument is 'The Shipwrecked' monument. The sculpture depicts a shipwrecked family.
The hill is a popular picnic spot because of the beautiful scenery.

Went up to see the sunrise on a cold cloudy morning, but no luck. Gorgeous park with multiple viewing points. Lovely observatory building too.

One of the oldest parks in Helsinki. Since its perched on the top of the hill, it provides great views of the harbour. It is built, as the name suggests, on a hill – and you can enjoy some pleasant views from there.

Views over the Cruise ship docks and also towards Senate Square. Nice spot and immaculately tidy. Good spot for a picnic.

We had a private tour of the observatory with out wonderful guide Paula. Our family include 3 children: ages 8 and 5 year old twins. Paula was incredible. She made the visit SO exciting that it’s been a highlight of our trip to Helsinki so far. I cannot recommend her enough. Even I learnt lots! The visit included a tour of the museum (but not at all boring!), a visit to one of the towers and a show in the small, cozy planetarium. Oh! And we touched a REAL meteriorite!!!

Only a short distance from Market Square, there are pleasant paths around the hill. The fine observatory, which gave the place its name, is an fine building and well worth a visit.
From the hill we had grand vistas over the harbour and sea and admired the large ferry cruisers at the quayside.
A further highlight was the great sculpture Shipwrecked, a powerful piece of public art.

The Observatory Hill, or Tähtitorninvuori park is a beautiful park near the Market Square and the Esplanadi and Kaivopuisto Parks. There are hilly lawns and trees, some attracive flower beds at the summit and an artsy fountain on the southeen side. The summit is adorned by the beautiful historic observatory buildings (which house a small, recommended museum).
There are several viewing spots where you can get a great view of the harbour to the east and also towards the Cathedral to the north. However some of the views are grown over so you may need to look for the best spots!
Combine this park with a walk in the beautiful districts of Ullanlinna and Eira, and / or with the seaside Kaivopuisto Park!

It's a pleasant grassed area with people passing through, but the views are only to the north, with the south blocked by apartments. The observatory buildings are quite attractive.
