Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A good interactive museum for all ages! Really creative with their engagement strategies. You can do a self guided tour or have a guided tour. Really interests artefacts and displays. Would recommend a visit

This is an OK natural history museum, filled with stuffed animals.
Its main appeal would be to children and less to adults.
There's a little coffee shop inside the museum, where we had a quick drink.

This place is worth to visit every time! Great place to spend time in rainy day. There is plenty to see for adults, teenagers and small children. There is area you can eat snacks. There are toilets and places to sit and relax. Staff was very helpful and nice.

The museum has a collection extinct and still existing animals. There are some dinosaur skeletons as well. Especially liked the mammoths.

Visited with a curious 4-year-old. Stuff you could touch combined with the stuff you can only look, was nicely balanced for us. I think the stuffed animals and their scenes were in good condition -> interesting.

The museum mostly shows stuffed/ conservated animals. The animals are nicely prepared and the museum tries to show them in their natural habitat and in their natural environment. The visit in total took us about 2h. I believe if you have small children it can take longer. The price is a little high for what the museum shows I would say. Probably I am a little biased, since we have a similar museum where I live and it costs less, yet if even larger. But still, if you like seeing animals and are interested in history of evolution, then it's worth a visit.

The natural history museum is very near to the centre, it is located in a fascinating, XIX century, building. The animals, representing the worldwide natural habitats and the Finnish biodiversity, are shown in wonderful dioramas. The last floor is dedicated to the evolution of the life on earth with some dinosaurs’ skeletons. There is even a section of comparative anatomy, not that frequent, in similar museums, (in Paris, there is a separated museum). The admittance ticket is 17,00€, quite expensive, but it’s wort the visit. There is a cafeteria next to the entrance but you have also a little picnic area in the last floor. Covid-19 certificate is mandatory.

Good museum in a central location, only short walk away from the train station and bus terminal. The entry fee is a bit steep but you are allowed to come and go from the museum with the same ticket during the day, and the lockers for your belongings are free. There is also a lunch cafe on site, which seemed to be fairly decent and not too expensive.

The museum itself spans several floors and is very nicely laid out, allowing you to view everything in orderly fashion. Information is available in three languages, but on some occasions English is missing. Overall it’s a good museum worth the visit if you are interested in the subject, and if you happen to have children I’m sure they’ll enjoy it as well.

Really enjoyed our few hours in the national history museum. It was lovely and warm and there were free lockers to store our coats, hats and scarves etc.
The exhibits were super interesting! Unfortunately we only speak English and so it was difficult to know what lots of the exhibits were as the labels/signs were not translated however if you are happy to just roam and look then this is fine. All of the staff spoke good English and were happy to help although not too many staff around!
Would definitely recommend this as a thing to do in Helsinki if you are interested in natural history!
