I've been to this place several times over the years, it's close to the place I usually stay in Helsinki. The days are segregated for men and women, what I say relates to men's days because that's what I have experience of. I have no idea if anything is different on women's days. Tickets are timed for two hours although it is possible to stay longer for an additional fee.

On arrival you have the choice of the first floor or after 13.00 also the second floor. The second floor offers additional facilities including food and drink and a towel robe. If you just want to swim and have a sauna the first floor is fine as that's where the pool and two of the saunas are. On the second floor you will have a changing cubicle with a bed to rest if you wish, on the first floor you will have a locker along the side of the pool.

There are no changing rooms because the days are single sex and indeed you don't get changed, you undress because in the pool and saunas the dress code is naked. There are notices up around the place that have trunks with a line drawn through them indicating the fact that they are not worn but that's quite normal in Finland. If you've never done that before don't be put off, it's all very relaxed and don't be tempted to wear trunks because you will look odd and out of place.

The pool is in lanes, slow, fast and run although at the deepest point it's more than 3m so you need to start swimming there too. The temperature is comfortable, access is either by shallow steps at one end or ladders along the side. The saunas are set at two different temperatures, the hotter one at 85c which is excellent and very relaxing however, don't be tempted to take a towel in the sauna, no other man does, just sweat and shower off, sweat and shower off, you won't recognise how clean you are afterwards. There are plenty of showers all with good water pressure and temperature controls.

It's a great place to relax and unwind passing a couple of hours particularly during the long and dark Finnish winter, I absolutely recommend it.

When in Rome etc. A great idea to visit this pool and sauna when in Helsinki - just do it. I read somewhere that Finland has 5.5 million people and over 2 million saunas, so I almost felt obligated to visit one, this proved an excellent choice. Relaxing and ensjoyable experience.

This is the first and oldest public swimming hall in Finland. Beautiful place with saunas, cabins and cafe. There is wooden sauna stove, so this is the place for sauna fans also.

Beautifull nicely renovated old swimming hall. No swimsuits allowed. Separate sections for male and female. You can even rent your own cabin for privacy. Bring your own drinks and spend the whole day meeting intereting people

Step back in time when you enter the swimming hall with its lovely Victorian era decor. I visited several times as it's a really good way to spend a few hours in cold or wet Helsinki.

Two saunas on the lower level, one hotter than the other, are really good and very spacious so you never feel squashed. The swimming pool is divided into three lanes however you do need to be a confident swimmer as the deep end is around 3 metres deep. €5.50 is the entrance fee for the ground floor only. You can pay a higher fee to gain access to the first floor with relaxing day beds, additional saunas and the ability to order food and drink.

There are no changing rooms as such, instead there are lockers you use at the side of the pool. As such access is restricted to men and women separately on consecutive days. As it's gender separated full nakedness is the normal dress code. This is enforced for the saunas and is optional for the swimming pool, although every time I visited the vast majority of swimmers were also nude. It does save you having to take wet shorts home with you!

All in all a lovely way to spend a few hours.

Beautiful swimmimg hall in heart of Helsinki ciry centre, one of the oldest swimming pools in Finland. Everything is kept very clean inside, the water clarity is excellent. For 5,5 euros you get entrance to 2 saunas and pool. You may swim naked, if you want to. There are separate days for men and women (schedule is on photo).
I definitely recommend to visit it, especially early in the morning, when swimming hall just opens - pool is not overcrouded and has a good relaxed atmosphere with local finns and some tourists. It was one of my best experiences in Helsinki and one of the best places for some cold rainy day.

Take a step back in time and go for a naked swim. Mens' and womens' nights. You can swim, go to different saunas, have a drink or even a meal. This art deco building is beautiful. Worth a visit, absolutely.

This magnificent swimming hall certainly gave me a perfect finale whilst I was in Helsinki. After 2 days of sight seeing and horse riding I decided I needed a swim to unwind and with it's location being right around the corner from the hostel where I was staying I knew I had to go!

What surprised me was that the genders are divided and as it was a Tuesday it was open only for men so the timing was right. I had 2 hours of swim, sauna and admiring the moment that I was inside somewhere with beautiful decor and history, although I never learnt that but I did learn though that this is the oldest swimming pool in the country and to seize a moment like this is not something one could do or say everyday.
