Great museum. Full of interesting items and fascinating facts about Finland. From pre history to present day. I spent two hours looking around. They have free lockers for bags and free audio guides. ( cost was free after 4 pm on the day I went) .

The museum is fascinating and offers a comprehensive look at Finnish history and culture. It features a vast collection of artifacts, exhibits, and interactive displays that showcase the country's history, from prehistoric times to the modern era. The museum's highlights include an impressive collection of Finnish folk costumes, weapons, tools, and exhibits on the Finnish civil war, the country's independence, and its role in World War II. It is not a big museum, but it is very interesting to know Finland's history.

This was the first place I visited in Helsinki and spent about four hours there despite my jet lag. I could've spent another four hours, but fatigue made me stop & return to my hotel. Fascinating history of Finland and its people.

There are many things to see in the museum. 3 Levels. There is this dark place about military war, when you walk passed a pathway, u will hear footsteps following you, quiet eerie.

This museum was a rather good overall introduction to Finnish history and culture, although quite dry at times. Beautiful building that seems to have been some sort of cathedral initially.

Some areas were difficult to navigate and it was unclear that you needed to exit the exhibition the same way you came in. Some English translations were off and failed to use the correct terminology or didn't offer the needed context. The sauna exhibition was a nice experience.

Want to learn about the real Finland, you must come here. Start in the basement with a prehistory guide to the country, how it developed post ice age, it’s original peoples. Progress over the next couple of floors to get an appreciation of religion, art, politics, wars and its people over the last century. Wonderful old building, a 10 minute walk from the rock church and on a tram line to Senate Square. Spend an hour here and you’ll appreciate the country in a new way. Free lockers for bags and heavy coats.

Worth it to find out more about where you are. Good comprehensive information with some interactive fun elements. Quite expensive vs other museums in other countries.

I was with a group that first had lunch here and then we had two hours to go through the museum on our own. I thought two hours was likely too much time but found that it was not enough, another hour or so would have been nice. The displays are well done and signage was excellent. We were given maps of the place and I have to say I may have missed something because I was running short of time and was not sure if I was interpreting the map properly but just had to move along so as to meet everyone outside at the appointed time. One of the nicest museums I have ever been in.

We spent a few hours learning about the history of Finland and it was interesting. The layout and exhibits are nice. The curators have done a good job with interactive areas as well as flow of the museum. We especially liked the photo booth where your photo popped up on the wall as a "future president of Finland." Very fun!
