A new neighborhood is forming itself in front of the statue erected in 1962 by the former Cable Factory next to it celebrating their 50th anniversary. The waterfront belonged then to the Helsinki Dock Yards where great ships were built, some still sailing as cruiseliners and visiting occasionally their home port. Now new block shaped houses in an odd rusted colour are rising as luxury apartments and offices on the shoreline. The tramline 6 has been continued to Eiranranta by the open sea where the next construction will start. Hernesaari is also the current port of cruise ships.

This 4-meter high bronze statue from 1962 is located in Telakanpuistikko Park in Eira. There are huge construction works going at the moment next to the statue.
The statue depicts a man lifting the globe. The figure's head has some resemblance to Michelangelo's 'David'.

Suffering in the middle of the massive construction site of new Telakkaranta in Punavuori an athletic man lifts the globe with cables. Sculptor Matti Haupt was born in St.Petersburg before the revolution and created the statue in 1962 for the Cable Factory next door (there are two in Helsinki). He has also made the fragile Bambi sculpture on which all the neighbourhood children have ridden in nearby Eira next to Villa Ensi Art Nouveau palace.

Kohottava voima (Lifting Power) is a bronze statue which is four meters high. You see a man lifting the globe. The sculpture was erected by Suomen Kaapelitehdas, later known as Nokia Company, in 1962. The statue is situated in Telakkapuisto Park. There is a very nice playground there, too.
