- Masked-CaperLos Angeles, California281 contributionsOne of the best LibraryThis is probably one of the best libraries I visited. It is surely an experience to go through the entire building. The design is fantastic. Especially the third floor where there is a dedicated section for small children. The entire library is brilliant architecture. MUST visit for anyone coming to HelsinkiVisited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten 20 December 2022
- Samuel AScottsdale, Arizona498 contributionsA lovely library with beautiful architecture! This is a great library that is an architectural wonder. There are various areas for relaxing, reading, and studying throughout the building. It is located downtown beside the main train station. Definitely a place to visit while in Helsinki!Visited October 2022Written 22 December 2022
- David MOslo, Norway240 contributionsWhat a library, what a building. What a fantastic piece of modern architecture. Walking around the library made me feel like I wanted to just sit down, read and even go back to university. I was inspired by seeing all the young people making the most of this excellent library. I was impressed by all the opportunities available on the 2nd floor. Felt like I could just walk into the studio and make a record. I was fascinated by the 3d printing. But the top floor, with the light, the design and the books. Just wonderful.Visited February 2023Written 14 February 2023
- RiShaLondon, United Kingdom464 contributionsAmazing library!Visited this library with friends recently, and this is a really impressive library! Modern look, huge literature sections, 3D printing areas, gaming rooms - it really has everything you could want! Wasn't planning to visit, but very glad that we did!Visited February 2023Written 15 February 2023
- whitefish8London, United Kingdom335 contributionsKoolest library on the planetThis is the koolest building ever and certainly the koolest library ever. It is HUGE and caters to everyone: oldies, children, babies. Lots of different areas to sit in, rooms for quiet work, comfortable seating. You just have to go to see it. I love a library but this is the beyond anything. The even have 3D printing available plus robots shuffling the books around.Visited February 2023Written 19 February 2023
- Vwalters94Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom20 contributionsGreat libraryWe had fun exploring this library. The staircase as you enter is covered in various words, which were chosen by the library’s patrons. If you go to the top floor, there is a quirky look out up a wooden slope with views of the city.Visited February 2023Written 26 February 2023
- AlisonHong Kong, China123 contributionsExperience of slience and me timeThe library is a public space owned by citizens and open to all people, it is a meeting place, a house of reading and a diverse urban experience. Oodi provides its visitors with knowledge, new skills and stories, and is an easy place to access for learning, relaxation and work. There are a wide range of books, reading materials, magazines, games. Moreover, the interior design is modern, apart from the top floor, Oodi’s facade is made entirely from wood, which softens the general appearance of the architecture around Töölö Bay. The wood used for the exterior wall is spruce. There are much reading areas for you, you can sit down to read or do your own things, the vibe is relax and slient, I would suggest you spending few hours of me-time here on your own things, which will be a fantastic experience!Visited March 2023Written 13 April 2023
- Marzena S33 contributionsMust see in HelsinkiIts not library as i know it... Lots of spaces. There are sewing machines for hire, childrens playing area, conference rooms, recording studio, cafe, 3D printers, and many more... Unfortunately, our guide did not allow us to stay longer. I was my favourite building in Helsinki...Visited May 2023Travelled with familyWritten 3 June 2023
- Ariana S23 contributionsModern state-of-the-art libraryThis could well be the best building in the world. It is a fantastic library that wants to share knowledge with a different approach. The building itself is incredible. The best part however, is in the inside. Make sure to take a look ;).Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 June 2023
- CMA3000Helsingoer, Denmark40 contributionsMore than a library and an architectual pearlIf I lived in Helsinki I would come here every day to work, to read, to meet friends and to borrow all sorts of things other than books and avoid buying them. This is a library that thinks beyond a library. And then it is also an architectual pearl.Visited May 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 14 June 2023

This is a shining example of a successful civic building. Architecturally beautiful it holds spaces for all ages to explore books, record music, tinker, play video games, attend lectures or have a coffee.

Libraries are not just books, especially here. Borrow and play board games, practice your Tik Tok dance moves, gather your rock band for a jam session, have a bite & coffee.....
This very popular library is a gem, certainly the best I've ever experienced.

Been here as a recommendation from friends. Left so inspired. Here you can find anything the person needs: 3D printers, hot printers, computers, desks for work, cafes, kanteen. Everything oriented to a person not for the monument.

This is a unique=looking building, located next to the museum of contemporary art.
While the interiors are not particularly interesting, it's still worth a look at its exterior.

What a great example of government money well spent! Our libraries are so plain compared to this architectural gem. It has an open floor plan with dedicated spaces for everyone. Loved the sewing machine area, the 3-D printing, the ability to borrow musical instruments, games, and, oh yes, books! Clean, well lit, and totally appealing as a place to get together, it’s a great example of a working library that actually works.

The architecture is amazing but more amazing —all the services provided by this library. You can check out everything from musical instruments to season tickets to concerts. Within the library, you can use everything from 3-d printers to sewing machines. All free with a library card. There a cafe on the third floor and a rooftop seating and viewing area.

This is a truly amazing library. If you want to oggle at beautiful staircases, expansive learning areas and even book-transporting robots, then this is the place for you. It's quite an experience, but be warned, you will likely leave with a malaise about the state or your home country's public services.

What an incredible learning space.
Such a beautiful building with large family areas.
The design is fantastic.
Free to enter.
Toilets are what they call Uni so don't be shocked to find the opposite sex inside.
The cafe is reasonably priced.
Loved the views from the balcony
Well used by students and local community an example to the rest of the world

What a beautiful library! The layout, the atmosphere, the views...
In addition to the wide selection of books, the cafe, and probably other stuff we didn't even see/know about, there's a great children's play area, with things to climb on, books to read (including in English), and more. This is just one more example of how family-friendly and kid-friendly Helsinki is. A great library in a great city!

A library worth experiencing. Lots of things to do and useful services such as 3D printing and normal printing, the possibility of booking music rooms and computers, studios and game rooms and so on. Perhaps the most versatile and best organized library in Finland. The library has a great design and an open atmosphere. There is also a cafe
The downside, however, is the noise level. The place has a children's playground, which sometimes makes a lot of noise and makes it difficult to concentrate on reading and thinking. Otherwise, a really good library and you will definitely find something that interests you.
