Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As a wealthy building developer Lauri Reiz was early on able to purchase what he liked focusing on the Golden Period in Finnish art. The collection spanning over 300 square meters on the top floor includes several Helene Schjerfbeck portraits, von Wright birds, two small Gallen-Kallelas and some Edefelts. Fine Meissen figurines are combined with the more rustic Finch ceramics manufactured by the Iris factory in Finland. Even the symbolist Hugo Simberg with his playful Devil has found a place in Reiz's home. Already 50 years ago his widow who had also lost their only son bequested the apartment with it's belongings to a foundation with the aim of a free museum with an expanding collection. This was made possible as Reiz owned the whole building and collected rent from 80 apartments.

Lauri Reitz was one of Helsinki’s most important property developers. He collected a remarkable collection of art and antiques. Reitz’s construction firm was participating to the development of the Töölö district in the 1930s Helsinki. His business was both extensive and technically advanced. This home museum occupies a major part of the 6th floor of the building which was designed as a masterpiece of the Reitz Construction Company. The main stairway is on the Hesperiankatu side. The Ritz cinema, named after Reitz, was also in the building. In this home museum you can see several paintings by many internationally well-known Finnish painters, like A.Edefelt, H. Schjerfbeck, A.Gallen-Kallela. Their works can be seen also in National Gallery Ateneum, but also in art museums in major European cities. The museum is open only Wed and Sun (15.00-17.00), no entrance fee. Lauri Reitz’s widow Maria made a bequest in her will that an art museum displaying his numerous art and antique pieces be opened in their former family home. Lasse Thus, the Reitz Foundation Museum was established in 1971.

Lovely collection of Finnish paintings in compact but sophisticated premises. It's sad that most townies don't even know that this beautiful museum exists! Check opening hours before you go as the museum is open only for couple of hours twice a week, closed in July. Free entry. Easy access with trams 1 and 2 (stop Apollonkatu).
