Visited here for a quick thirst quencher with a friend. The place is as it always has been: the rock music is great, the drinks are cold and the bartenders are tattooed & smiling. It's a sure bet whenever you need a place to sit down and chill with a cold beer or a glass of wine.

I had heard about this place from a friend of mine that has been quite a few times. So when I finally made my way to Finland, I had to check it out. Where do I start?? It was great! When they found out that I was from NY they were super nice...made some great suggestions! Would definitely go back! The atmosphere was just right. Wasn’t too busy the prices were great!

The good people of Rocks were friendly, served up some nice drinks and an entertaining crowd playing pool.

I visited with my friends at new reopened and renovated On The Rocks and now the stage pit area downstairs has been renovated optimally for audience and for listening bands and music played by talented Rock DJ's . Entrance fees are moderate beginning from 5€ up to 20-30€ depending on evening and performer, drinks are beginning from 7€, for rock lovers and enthusiasts visiting Helsinki OTR is now good rock bar with good stage worth of visit and enjoying good rock gigs.

Now over-crowded, half the terrace has heaters and half of it doesn't so everybody can find a seat to their liking. The bar inside is kinda small, creating that tight comfort like a rock place should be, and mostly it's clean enough. A pool table and live music can be found for entertainment. The beer selection is good enough, and the music isn't too loud to disturb some talking with friends or chatting up a new one. Some of the bartenders are a bit rude at times (I mean they're human, but it wasn't even remotely busy and we still got angry responses?), but most of the staff keeps a great attitude throughout the night. Major kudos to the bouncers. Those guys have some steely nerves and clean take-downs should that time ever come! (No personal experience, just as a bystander.)
What keeps me wondering is the men's room. It has 2 urinals and 1 toilet seat in the same room without no dividers or stalls. The lock doesn't work either. The pool table is located right in front of the mens' room, which is also kinda odd. The biggest issue is, there is not enough beer in the whole wide world to make me feel OK about watching 2 random dudes bare backsides as they piss, right in front of me, while I try to take a dump. I'm telling you. Not enough beer. In the whole wide world. I'm not even sorry about saying (writing) that out loud - hey On the Rocks, ex-fuxxxng-cuse me, would you please FIX THIS! With WALLS, not alcohol, preferably! Anyway, grab a friend you trust to watch the door while you go, and have a good time drinking...
"Would you recommend this place or activity to a friend looking for an exciting and thrill-seeking experience?" Maybe? :)

I have always loved this place. It is even better now since the renovation. During cold periods you can sit inside and have a drink or cup of coffee while waiting for the doors to the gig to open. Upstairs pub and downstairs the venue.

Your standard rock bar with a great outdoor terrace. The feel of the bar is typical of what you would expect - nothing too fancy - but the music is great.

I love rock music and I read about this place before coming to Helsinki, so then I decided to visit it!
It definitely worth a visit!
I was here with my mum and we spent the night here drinkin’ and talking’ with local people, very fun!
Very kind staff.
See you next time!

If you want a drink by the station, this will serve your purposes. It carries a fairly typical selection of beers for the area. Has a pool table.

We visited fairly early in the evening on a Thursday so it wasn’t a particularly ‘happening’ time.
Service was good and staff friendly. We didn’t visit it again during our 3 nights in Helsinki so clearly hadn’t grabbed us.
I think it could be a different matter later on a weekend or when a live band is on.
Worth a visit if you’re a rock fan and in town.
