This is by far the cheapest and most efficient way to travel from the Airport Helsinki to the main station in Helsinki. The trains are very comfortable, clean and modern.

This is by far the easiest airport train system I have ever used anywhere. Very clean, fast and cheap also. You can get directly from the airport to the train platform in a few minutes by following the signs that lead to the underground station. HSL tickets are also sold on the station's platforms.

PLEASE NOTE that if you want to go from the airport to the center of Helsinki, you must choose the ABC ticket. The ticket can also be used on metro, ferries, commuter trains, trams and buses.

Had read about the train being the most efficient and inexpensive way to get to and from the Vantaa airport.
It definitely is the cheapest and the fastest and felt very safe even at 10 at night on a Saturday.
Use the HSL app to buy ABC zone single ticket which will last 90mins and gets you to Helsinki and any accommodation within the A zone within the given validity.
The trek to the train station is interesting especially the escalators that seem to take you into the bowels of the earth…
It’s clean, wasn’t crowded and very easy to use even for a first timer….

The airport train station is below the airport so you will need to use the lift if you have large luggage or use some very long escalators to reach it. Be aware that you will need a Zone ABC ticket if travelling to the city centre as the airport is in zone C. The tickets can be purchased on the platform or you can download the HSL app and buy a ticket 24 hours prior to travelling. Taking the train is cheap and easy and takes about 30-35 minutes to reach the central train station. Plenty of room for luggage and super clean. I would have taken it back to the airport and to Espoo during my trip but wasn't able to due to a train strike.

We investigated options for transport from the airport to Helsinki city centre. By far the cheapest and quickest was by train.
Very easy, cheap (4.10 euro for an adult single) & convenient to purchase tickets direct from the platform machines, just make sure you pick the right zone pricing (ABC - 3 zone ticket) and there are 2 trains (I & P) which look to be on a continuous back & forth route to & from the airport departing every 10 minutes or so stopping at various point along the way taking approx 30 minutes to reach city.

After holiday in Helsinki we had to go to the airport, were looking for bus transport which would take 1 hour, we were told do take the train which is much faster.
Did go to the CS and in a kiosk we did by tickets ABC to the airport at 4,60Euro p.p. when you go to the platform go rigth an some may be 100 meters and you will find the trains.
You can not by tickets on the train.
It is a new and very modern train which during the day leave every 15 minuts, there are some stop on the tour, but you a inform well.
It did take 1/2 hour to the airport and you arrive under ground the airport.
We will for sure use this train from and to the airport in the future

This was a really easy way to go from and to the airport. Easy to buy tickets on the ticket machine too. Just remember to buy the right tickets. If you are going from the airport to Helsinki city center, you have to buy the "A-B-C" ticket. We first bought the "A-B" tickets, but that is for a shorter distance or something. So we had to buy new tickets. And it wasnt possible to buy a single "C" ticket to add to the "A-B" tickets we already bought. The "A-B-C" ticket is about 5 euro and its much cheaper than taxi. And its only about 30 min from the airport to Helsinki City center. When we arrived the central station we just used google maps to find the hotel. When taking the train back again, the ticket machine and the train to the airport wasnt inside. We had to first go in to the central station and then go out on the other side. We used a few minutes to figure out that. You can not buy tickets on the train, you have to buy them on the tickets machine before you are taking the train.

A very good way to get to the airport nowadays. The ride takes a little bit over half an hour and you only pay the public transport fee. The ride ends right between the two terminals of the Helsinki Airport.

Spacious modern trains travel frequently from early morning till past midnight from Helsinki Main railway station to the airport. The P-line goes via Tikkurila where you can exchange to long distance trains, the travel time both ways is about half an hour. You need to purchase a ticket for three zones A-C from the automats before boarding. It is also possible to buy a combined ticket for the whole stay in Helsinki.

I had a long wait in Helsinki-Vantaa Airport till my next flight, so using the Ring Rail Line to get to downtown Helsinki turned out to be the right move. And great idea.

The Ring Rail Line (trains marked either 'I' or 'P') goes to the center of Helsinki, and you won't miss the downtown stop in Helsinki, since it is the final stop of the train. The ticket cost is about 7 Euros for a one-way transfer, you can buy return tickets either at the Airport (there are some excellent Travel Agencies there) or from the machine on the platform. The train goes from the Airport Terminal (Level LL), it is very comfortable, with displays of the stops (in Finnish). Seating is comfortable too, the route is pretty scenic - you can see forests, living areas of Helsinki suburbs, some cool street art at the train stops, etc. The compartment is very-well designed, it is very modern and light.

I really enjoyed using this convenient transportation from the airport to Helsinki, spent there several hours in the downtown area, and then came back to the airport.

Very efficient way of transfer! Ring Rail Line is excellent.
