Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent way to visit islands nearby Helsinki! We boarded M/s Hymy to Pihlajasaari island and we had a lovely experience. Safe, on time service and polite crew.

We were staying a short walk away from Market Square, so it was an easy walk for us to the dock area to catch the ferry for the short 20/25 minute or so journey across to the fortress, with one interim stop in each direction.
The ferry was efficient - arriving and leaving on time with two decks, one covered and one open, which is best in good weather as it gives you good views as you travel. On our way back, the weather became more windy, so upstairs was for the hardy explorers.
They also serve a limited range of refreshments for you to buy for your journey.

Costing about 10 Euros return it is a great way to get to Suomenlinna. Running every 20 minutes the journey is itself a pleasure as you see Helsinki and nearby islands. Suomenlinna is the third stop. The journey there takes about 30 minutes and about 20 back when there is only one stop.

I chanced upon JT-Line Island Hopping in brochure and found it an efficient and affordable way to visit Vallisaari, Suomenlinna and Lonna. The staff were polite and helpful. The ticket is valid for one day so you can stop and walk as much or as little as you like on each island.

When we bought the tickets to use that company's transportation, we thought we were going to be able to get off the boat at either King's quay or Main quay. But, instead, they only drop off / pick up passengers at the Artillery Bay quay, right in the middle of the island.
This is not ideal, as you need to walk back and forth the island to get a return transport.
We would recommend you choosing a company that let's you use both King's quay and main quay... so that you can optimize your stay on the island.

Took the island hopping ticket for the afternoon in Helsinki.
Myself and my partner were at our last island before heading back to the market. As it was a hot day We were at the peer but more toward land as the only shade was a tree nearby. We waited out of the frying pan and kept an eye on the clock, the boat was supposed to pick up at 16:40, we were waiting as time ticked on it was running 5 to ten minutes late...I would like to say I have no problem with this at all. Not everyone in life is by the second. Soo as we seen the boat approaching (which was far far away) we walked back in to the sun towards the pick up point. The boat was coming in quite quick and went passed..again no problem we could easily get the next one,
Soooo... my issue is the member of staff who thought it was acceptable to greet my partner and I with a very stern look and proceeded to provide us with attitude in front of other people on how we should be at the meeting point 15 minutes prior to departure.
For a country that has been voted happiest people I’m not sure if this young lady was giving off the right impression. On the whole though, great price and a lovely way to spend the afternoon, Perhaps I would suggest a little more training on how to provide quality customer service.

We booked the ticket a few hours in advance and we waited in the line for almost 30 mins only to find they prioritized a wedding group that came only 15 mins before the ride and bought tickets on spot. They wouldn’t let anyone else enter till the wedding crew had boarded irrespective of their “first come” policy. They occupied the upper deck for wedding and photography and wouldn't let any outsider to board. Nice to see how they treat their tourists The service was terrible on talking the staff was rude and I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. Please take the sightseeing tour over this.

Situated near the market at the harbour this is a great way to get around the islands. Reminded me a bit of the water taxi boats in Austria. Very efficient punctual and value for money.

Buy the island hopping ticket to go see the three islands. It is 8€ per adult and runs regularly. We only made it to two of the islands and enjoyed Vallisaari the most. Suomenlinna was crowded and busy. We still had a good time but had more fun elsewhere. There are restaurants on each island, but they were crowded and expensive. There is a grocery store on Suomenlinna, but the line to check out want completely around the inside of the store. I recommend bringing your picnic lunch over with you. The ferry operated on time and we never had any trouble getting a seat.
