The memorable bronze statue, commemorating the Finnish writer Aleksis Kiven (1834 - 1872), is located in a very prominent historic part of Helsinki - at the farther end of Helsinki Railway Square (Rautatientori). The statue is excellently placed under the shade of a tree, in front of it there are colorful flowerbeds, and some benches.

The whole area is very historic, with some beautiful old buildings, and the gorgeous building of Finnish National Theater.

Interesting person and the statue is beautiful. I wouldn't say this is something you need to have in your bucketlist but it is nice to stop by if you are near.

Sitting in front of the National theatre the author of the first well known Finnish book Seven brothers seems to be lost in thoughts. He wrote the story of the orphaned adult brothers left by themselves on an unkempt farm house trying to build a life by learning to read during ten years from 1860 also struggling himself. The popularity of the book is based on its description of several basic Finnish characteristics. The story has been repeated in plays, animation film, opera, tv-series and several films starring most prominent male actors.

Aleksis Kiven is Finland’s most prized writer and all Finnish children study his work while at school. Aleksis kiven’s life story is actually very interesting and worth looking into, particularly his sad end.

If you’ve come to the central train station already then take five minutes to check out this statue to the Finnish author. It is very nice with the National theatre behind it makes for nice photos as libg as you dint capture the digital display that has been added to the front and center of the theatre (talk about out of place).

This attractive statue sits in front of The National Theater. It is well crafted and impressive in its size. Benches next to it provides the visitor a chance to sit and enjoy this work of art.

Born Alexis Stenvall. Finish Author. Wrote the first novel in Finnish Language called Seven Brothers. He died very Young at 38 years on this planet and that on a mental hospital so maybe not a super life. He is ranked as one of the top writer of Finland. Right behind him is the National theater so in that case I think it was a good Place for him that make good photoes for me.. And interesting thing for me since I right before this found the statue of Elias Lonnrot and the world is small - he was one of his best friends.

The statue is located on Rautatientori square in front of the National Theatre in Helsinki. The statue was created by Finnish sculptor Wäinö Aaltonen in 1939.

Aleksis Kivi (1834-1872) was a Finnish author who wrote the first significant novel in the Finnish language, Seven Brothers (in Finnish Seitsemän veljestä).

Although Kivi was among the very earliest authors of prose and lyrics in the Finnish language, he is considered one of the greatest of them all.
