Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We took a stroll around the gardens but unfortunately the botanical gardens were closed for repairs. The gardens are still lovely to walk around ne very picturesque.

This is a small and not too impressive botanic garden in northern Helsinki.
While the orangery in the garden has an entrance fee, the outdoor part of the garden is free and is worth a 15-minute visit.

What a beautiful gem in the middle of the city. The variety of flora here is impressive. Came for a couple of hours to read and just enjoy the peacefulness.

There was a section on lichens, moss and fungus. Excellent, easy to understand explanations in English on the evolution of different plants and flowers. The grounds are free of charge to stroll; a fee to enter the pavilions. The garden is in the city and can walked to from the Helsinki railway station in 15 minutes or take the tram! Bus and subway. I had an hour to kill and this place was very close to my hotel.

Botanic gardens are one of our favorite visits and this garden in Helsinki, though relatively modest in size, was really impressive in the diversity of its collections. Don’t miss the arboretum area on the south end and make some time to view and consider the new lichen collection adjacent to the moss and fern collections. Given that our visit was in midsummer, the exterior gardens easily held our full attention for three hours for free, so we didn’t pay the entry fee for the glasshouse. (However, we did hang out next to the glasshouse for awhile because we were able to access the internet their via our eduroam login access. The garden has a strong academic program hence the eduroam connection access.) Undoubtedly, the glasshouse would be a nice hangout in colder seasons. There’s also a nice little cafe on the grounds offering light meals and drinks.

The outside gardens, which are free, are really nice. It's tempting to want to go inside the Victorian-era greenhouse building but frankly, unless you're an avid horticulturalist, it's probably not worth the entry price. But I would whole-heartedly recommend walking the grounds.

It's free entry outside or at least it was when we went a few days ago.

It was lovely to walk round on such a beautiful day. So many pretty plants, trees and things to see.

Ideal place for a picnic or a snooze also!

I'd recommend going for sure. Our little girl loved it, as did we!

The grounds are lovely and the greenhouses have an extensive array of plants (one of the largest collections of African violets). Definitely a break from the winter cold! The outside grounds appear quite nice, but of course there's not much to see in February when it's -3C. Would like to see it in full bloom, or have walking guided tours available.

I think the botanic gardens at Kaisaniemi are an underrated spot in Helsinki. In spring and summer there are also outside gardens to explore. The indoor glasshouses are not that large but just perfect sizes for visit. With Museum Card this is free to visit. I ended up spending here close to two hours just strolling in the gardens. As long as the COVID restrictions are on one needs to reserve timed entrance at the museum website. No queues and very few people at one time.

It's a really nice setting and peaceful to walk around these gardens. There is only one entrance which is a bit of a pain because it is on the opposite side to the city centre so you have to walk all the way around the outside fence of the gardens before you can get in.
