Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is definitely not ”a typical orthodox” cathedral like someone said before. It is and has always been a lutheral cathedral. The lutheran cathedrals are far less decorative than the orthodox cathedrals anyway. :)

The old church from 1777 was destroyed in the big Oulu fire in 1822.

The current stone cathedral was completed in 1832 over the ruins of the old church.

It was made according to the neoclassical designs of the famous architect Carl Ludvig Engel who also designed the Helsinki Cathedral.

The interior is very beautiful.

I really liked this- it was quite different to the layouts of other typical european churches- the aisles are wider and the interior is white and light. It is well worth going inside.

This is an Lutheran cathedral and is near the Oulu City Hall. It was built in 1777 as a tribute to King Gustav 111 of Sweden

This joins that exclusive set of cathedrals that have left me going 'wow!'. Two others are Norwich and Salzburg.
This building was completed in the first half of the 19th century on an earlier structure from the 18th. Internally it is the use of polished white marble for the pillars that first strikes the visitor. White and light are constant themes. The pews – all boxed pews – are painted white. The pulpit is a pedestal of white marble. The modern organ is a clever design in white metal. The dome over the crossing is white.
There are delightful touches of modern artistry. There are cartouches of Jesus high up on each of the corner supports of the crossing. Modern stained glass windows are very colourful. Even the stand for lit candles near the entrance is a clever example of modern design. Looming over all is a fine and noble example of 19th century organ building. A wonderful building deserving of far more than a 5-minute look.

This beautiful cathedral is equipped with a good hearing loop and an induction loop quality-map advises where the hearing aid users should sit to hear well:
Good concerts in addition to the normal church services.

The Oulu Cathedral is an Evangelical Lutheran cathedral. The church was originally built in 1777 but the wooden structures burned in the large fire of Oulu in 1822.

The church was built again on top of the old stone walls with famous architect Carl Ludvig Engel being as the designer. He also designed the Helsinki Cathedral. Some kind of resemblance can be seen, especially inside.

The Oulu Cathedral was completed in 1832 and the tower in 1845.

One of the most beautiful churches in Finland. Peaceful break if you want to see something beautiful and quite old in hectic city of Oulu.
