Great history
Jul 2018 • Couples
This is a wonderful place to learn about old life in Oulu. Bring your mosquito repellent and you will enjoy it. It is not really busy and we had as much time as we wanted to see everything. There are many explanations in Finnish as well as English. Bring water as you will be doing a lot of walking.

Wandering through history
Jul 2018 • Couples
Pack your mosquito repellent and enjoy a nice stroll through Oulu history. There was enough English translations that we felt we were learning what we needed. The only thing I wished for was a guide option, because we always have a lot more questions. Kids with young children would also enjoy this. Above the old cow barn there is a nice play area and I think the girl there will escort a family group around. All in all it was a nice use of a morning.

Nice atmosphere from history and Finnish life
Jun 2016 • Family
I like the old buildings which have also historical interior design in very Finnish way. In the buildings there are also historical Finnish items. The old chapel is also nice and authentic. I visited during midsummer festival and the surroundings was good for the party. There is a nice bridge to another island.

Serenity is calming and soothing!

I visited the place during July this year! There is a museum containing the things used by the Finnish people several years ago! And the church is also old and worth to visit!

Nice cultural place
Jul 2015 • Family
We visited this outside museum, it tells wonderfully tradtions and ways how the things were done in past days. Location is not great, you need transportation, its quite a way from city centre.

The beautiful islands provide an excellent scene for a family visit with charming old farm houses, interesting timber camps and tar culture, as well as a small church and windmill.

Worth a visit on a nice summer day
Aug 2013 • Couples
Very atmospheric museum island on the Oulu River highlighting some of the history of the area, such as tar trade in the beginning of the 20th century. Admission's cheap and the place is definitely worth a visit on a nice summer day - in fact they are only open during summer. You might need some planning to get there though, especially if you don't have a car, since the island is a bit remotely located.
