Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This interesting museum focuses on the history of the city of Oulu and Northern Ostrobothnia. Most of the exhibitions are permanent but there is always something new.

This time there was a LEGO miniature exhibition. The stunning LEGO scale model of the Oulu city center has taken more than 20,000 blocks to build.

At the moment, the entrance is free.

Museum contained exhibition of local living history and industry. Rooms for different centuries. Mostly household stuff. Most interesting part was coin collection. It was nice to visit but I didn't feel that I must visit again soon.

The museum is located in Ainola Park near the city center in a building from 1931.

The museum tells you the history of the city of Oulu, Northern Ostrobothnia and Finland in an interesting way. There is so much to see.

In August we visited this museum and saw the permanent exhibitions. Now we had time to see only the new exhibitions.

Downstairs was a new exhibition called Kakaravaara (Hill of Children). It was a playful exploration of children's life from the late 19th century to the late 20th century.

The museum is located in the Ainola park. We did not have high expectations when we entered the museum and were pleasantly surprised by the exhibition. The museum is quite big and the different sections of the museum give you a very good picture of life in Oulu region. Highly recommended. History of North with many old furnitures and costumes, not only texts which makes exhibition better. Downstairs you will find special Koiramäki village and at the moment seasonal and very nice exhibition of Finnish sport happenings and persons

We visited when weather turned poor. However with three floor in interesting exhibits on trade, shipping, education and a scale model of Oulu from 1938 that you can manoevre around a really good experience. I certainly learned loads about Finland's relationship with Russia and how the first and second world wars affected the locals.

Wide perspective on local history. Primary exhibitions and interesting changing exhibitions. Especially recommended: the huge size small scale model of the city from the year 1938.

Good place to visit if you are interested in the history of Oulu and the Northern Ostrobothnia region. Check also the contemporary exhibitions, they can be anything from bats to the coffee pot cosies. The Doghill exhibition is based on the very popular books written by Finnish author Mauri Kunnas.

Historical museum that shows you the life at Oulu and its surroundings from pre-historial to 1970's. Also temporary exhibitions at the very bottom floor. Small shop for genuine souveniers, try the products made with tar (soap, shampoo etc.) they have real nature's healing powers!
