A science centre in Oulu
Aug 2021
I visited the Tietomaa, a science centre, where you can take part of all kind of experiences in science and technology, but I must say I was too old for this; it was nearly meant for young people. I liked most the Tietomaa tower (45 m high), where you can admire the skylines of Oulu from the top floor of the tower. The lift up to the top floor outside the tower was little scary, when the lift had glass walls, so you could see the landscape passing by.

Nice way to learn something new
Aug 2021 • Couples
Nice tourist location, good way to learn about Oulu and Science. Some games upstairs , you can for exemple fly an airplane. From the tower you can see Oulu. Near Center, good for couples and children. Also viewed a movie about Australian forest and its animals.

Great for children
Aug 2020
This is a good science museum. It is very interactive and is really good for children. They have lots of interesting displays. There are also games and things to play which aren't that sciency. The building is not very well signposted and I thought the 17 euro adult entrance fee was a little steep but otherwise it is excellent to take kids to. I wouldn't recommend visiting unless you have children, or have time to kill when it is raining.

Oldie, But Goldie - Science Center for Kids
Aug 2019 • Family
TLDR: Great fun for kids ~ 6 - 15

If small kids in Oulu love Ainolan puisto playground, this is the crown jewel for school-aged kids. I remember going there and the amusement... now my kids love to go there and feel the same - no wonder as many things are exactly like they were 30 years ago. Yes, they are renewing the place and some things don’t get old (or actually some illusions kind of get old when you’ve seen them in Tietomaa, Heureka or some museum of illusions, but people who haven’t seen them enjoy them).

It’s easy to find Tietomaa thanks to it’s tower. You get to visit the tower, too. Tietomaa also has a huge 3D cinema (during covid only 2D), but I haven’t visited there ever with a kid that lasts whole time (40 min) at the cinema or isn’t scared. But I’ve heard that some kids and adults love it.

The place has small lockers for you stuff, if you want to use one. Most quests just leave their clothes to an open rack. There’s also a small museum shop and a café (haven’t tried current one).

If you live in Oulu, I recommend a year pass, it’s just 40 € for kids - nowadays (finally!) Tietomaa is free with Museokortti (year pass for museums in Finland).

Science centre for those rainy days, or even if it's not raining!

If you visiting Oulu and want have a relaxing afternoon why not visit Tietomaa science center! Different exhibitions from time to time, more suited for kids than for adults.

The best place ever!!
I go there every year at the summer, super entertaining and educational!
The place has multiple floors, and each floor is huge and filled with activities that explain physics and science in such a pleasant, easy and attractive way.
Every now and then they also add new activities which makes it even more interesting.
would definitely recommend, this place never fails to keep me entertained.
Been visiting the place since I was 8, and im 19 now :)

Interesting place for children, but not for adults
Mar 2019 • Friends
We went to museum with friends (without children). It was a little dissapointing. Most of exhibitions was just for children. I expected more things about science and experiments for adults.

Interesting science museum
Jan 2019 • Couples
This museum is full of science and technology that can be touched, tested and tried out.

We liked most the 3D movie 'Incredible Predators' and the views from the tower.

Some parts are more suitable for children. Also, there were some parts which were hard to understand.
